My Daily Bread

I love this book, it’s great for daily reading and reflection. It’s a durable little book, nice and small to easily travel with. Very easy to understand words, great for teens or adults. Lots of fantastic relatable reflection and prayers. I truly feel I can flip to any page and relate to the reading. I read the same sections daily, I really do enjoy this book. I definitely feel it strengthened my faith and it gives you very relatable reflections for every day life.

This book by far is a Catholic must have. It has the answers to all of life’s problems. When I was very young, my mother bought each of her five children, one of these books, including me. I treasure this book and take it with me whenever I go on vacation or have to leave home for a long period of time. It is a very good book and if you follow it’s advice, you will obtain heaven. nothing in this world is worth losing your soul for. If my house was on fire, this would be one of the books I would grab. In the pages of this book, it is like Jesus is speaking to you then you think and then you pray. No matter what problem you are facing this book has the answer each time you read it you will get a new message or a new meaning, many difficult times in my life this book has helped me out tremendously, it puts things in perspective. So many wealthy people in the past have died and stated on their deathbed that all the wealth in the world was meaningless to them on their deathbed this world and everything in it is meaningless. Our soul is more valuable than all the world. if everyone had this book and followed its advice, the world would be such a wonderful place. The Devil is working hard to destroy the souls of many if you buy one book in your life by this one and follow it. One day you will die, and you will either face and eternity in heaven or hell think about that, this world and everything in it means nothing, once you are deceased, everything in this world is gone there will be no one to save you. No lawyers, no judges no family members no one. Live your life right, right now, so you may have a chance to enter the kingdom of Heaven or face and eternity in hell. This book will help you obtain eternal glory with Jesus.

I've had all the original, small Confraternity of the Precious Blood books at one time or another over the years, and they're all great. But they were a bit small and not especially aesthetically pleasing despite their great content. This new full-sized edition of My Daily Bread takes that little book and transforms it into something completely new. The embossed wheat design on the leatherlike cover is beautiful, and combined with the quality paper and gold page edges, makes you feel you have something really special in your hands. I find that that actually is an inducement to deeper prayer, the sense of reverence that a quality spiritual book imparts. The book takes you through the whole process of growth in the spiritual life. Each entry begins with a section where Christ addresses the reader on a spiritual topic. This segment is called "Christ." This is followed by a section labeled "Think," meaning, thoughts or meditations on Christ's message. Third is a "Pray" section, where the reader is encouraged to pray about incorporating the teachings into their personal life. At the back of the book is an "Outline" which lists all the topics covered, in case you want to look up a particular topic instead of reading through from the beginning. I am using this as my primary daily spiritual reading, supplemented by a few other things but this is the real heart of my daily prayer at this point. This book is suitable for anyone on any spiritual level. The book is easily understandable by a beginner, but deep enough for someone who has been involved in the spiritual life for some time. The typeface is a comfortable size for reading-- so important because so many books these days have tiny typeface. It's a sturdy, quality book that will hold up for many years. This would make a wonderful gift for anyone, or for yourself. There is a page for an inscription in the front of the book. I bought a copy for my son for Christmas, but could not resist using it myself, so I had to order a second one to give to him!

Very inspirational. It's broken up into short sections that only take a couple minutes to read.

I creatively applied this book to Rosary devotions by applying one chapter to each decade (5 chapters per Rosary). It not only became an interesting puzzle figuring out which set of mysteries each 5-chapter set related to, but also a good spiritual exercise that brought new understanding of the Mysteries. Each chapter begins with numbered paragraphs with the words of Jesus followed by a meditation (the “Think” section) and a Prayer. It’s like you and Jesus confronting your soul and its problems together, having Him lovingly show the how’s, why’s and what’s of your obstacles to holiness, and guiding you through removing them. Note that I only used chapters with words of Jesus for praying decades. Typically, I assigned each numbered paragraph to a bead in the decade, split up Think and Pray sections between the remaining beads, and also prayed a Hail Mary after each reading. The Hail Mary gives time to unpack weighty sections and meditate. I kept the Mysteries in mind so that I could relate the material as I went. I almost never knew which set of Mysteries I’d be addressing until all or halfway through the first (or second) decade, but enjoyed going back to see how many Mysteries I could apply the lessons to. Usually one leaped out as an obvious theme. Other books in the series work equally well. The best part, however, is how therapeutic it was. Somehow always on target. To a large degree, it healed my soul of the pain and brokenness stemming a lifetime of baggage and my daughter’s recent tragic death. Whether you buy the print or ebook version, I can’t recommend it enough!

Good quality ..

Each daily meditation is about a page and 1/2 in length and split into three parts, the first is devoted to Christ talking about whatever topic you are looking at for that particular day, the second part is a short paragraph devoted to thoughts about what is just been talked about and third is a short paragraph made up of a prayer which focuses on what has been discussed throughout that particular meditation. Each meditation is short, sharp but to the point… They are very insightful and help one to focus on the supernatural rather than just on the natural… These meditations were an absolute joy to use and serve to try and help the individual to purify and sanctify their souls by helping them to become more spiritually aware… All of these meditations put God at the centre of everything rather than oneself and they filled me with peace, truth & love each time I opened this book to read from it. It offers help and encouragement through the prayer given at the end of each meditation to help the soul to strive further in its desire to come into closer communion with our holy Lord God… If you haven't got much time to spend on spiritual reading then definitely give this book a try, personally I was very surprised to come to the end of it but automatically jumped to the beginning again to begin rereading it as I found it so spiritually nourishing to use.

Book is high quality and well written. Useful to deepen on the knowledge of our faith and to convert from the heart.
