Got Melasma? Get Pink Hi-Lite (grey/brown neutralizer)!
Update 05/29/14 : Upon realizing that the Pink Hi-Lite was unavailable, even from Graftobian directly, I contacted the manufacturer to find out why. Fortunately, I learned that Pink Hi-Lite is not discontinued, but is completely out of stock. I was assured by Graftobian that the color (#30394) is in production this week and should return to shelves soon. It turns out that Extra Hi-Lite (#30395), though also pink-hued, is not the same shade. In a pinch, I do think that Extra Hi-Lite would work for melasma, but in the end it may appear less natural than the Pink Hi-Lite (which can be blended to virtually invisible) for that application. Extra Hi-Lite is the only one of these corrector colors that I have not tried. I have the others._____________________________________________This review focuses on the benefits of corrector color #30394, "Pink Hi-Lite (grey/brown neutralizer), as it pertains to the particular tone abnormality, melasma. It is important to note for the record, though, that all of these Garftobian HD Creme Foundation Correctors are superb, each for a specific concern, of course. They are creamy and light, never dry or cakey, and they blend quite well, virtually disappearing when applied carefully, even without another layer of makeup (other than setting powder, which is absolutely crucial for durability of wear) on top of them.Personally, I have three major tone issues that I prefer to conceal, very dark under-eye circles (genetic, but exacerbated by frequent sleep deprivation), broken capillaries around the nose (which I even had as a child), and melasma. For me, the melasma is the most difficult to conceal, and that may just be because my circles are so very dark that nothing short of theatrical make-up can completely erase their existence (so I simply accept them more, with my highest expectation being to soften them rather than truly get rid of them).Pink Hi-Lite (#30394) is absolutely the best concealer for melasma that I've tried, and I've tried plenty of them. With this product, I am able to completely mask even large brown patches. The true test was when I applied this for a very close girlfriend who has a particularly conspicuous spot measuring about 4 cm x 5 cm on her face. Though I expected the product to provide some camouflage for my friend, I was surprised to see that her blotch, which is pretty dark as melasma goes, was completely undetectable once this was applied.I am in Women's Health, and for many years have prescribed Tri-Luma for the treatment of melasma. The prescription product is quite effective, but only when applied diligently, without any missed doses, and for a prolonged period of time. Further, when I saw the stuff in action, after giving some samples to my mother, I learned that it actually is a deep exfoliator. Apparently, it removes the spot by actually removing the skin to the depth of the pigmented area, albeit very gradually. The process is slow, but still, my mother's face did eventually take on the appearance of a snake, with the area treated shedding in sheets. The newly exposed skin was then pink and fresh, but didn't match the rest of her face at first. Also, this area, like baby skin, was uber sensitive to UV, and had to be constantly protected. Finally, the same area developed a new similar spot a few years after discontinuation of the pricey Rx product. Therefore, to me, camouflage is actually a more reasonable tactic than treatment is.In my opinion, as women, we really shouldn't be so embarrassed by melasma, because though it is sometimes referred to as, "the mask of pregnancy," it is hormonally driven. In other words, it is the ultimate sign of femininity! That's why it often first appears in pregnancy (or with the use of oral contraceptives + sunlight), because melasma is the result of female hormone surges. Unfortunately, society, the media, and we, as women and sufferers of this condition, just don't see it that way; we see ugly brown patches marring our porcelain beauty. That said, I do cover my own dark spots . . . (a case of, "do as I say, not as I do," here - sorry), and this is my go-to product.I apply this with a fingertip, because the warmth helps the cream to achieve a more spreadable consistency. I tend to tap it on, lightly, as I read that the force of a light tap helps drive the product into the skin. I usually go beyond the edges of the defect with this concealer, basically creating a big patch of pinkish color. At this stage of application, the dark spot is virtually undetectable, replaced with a larger pinkish blotch (in other words, a single layer of this is all that's needed to truly neutralize grey, brown, or greyish-brown defects, including freckles). Then I use a flat concealer brush, like Sigma F75 - Concealer rather than a fluffier one like this Sigma P86 - Precision TaperedTM which has more of a 3D head to it, to feather the edges of the concealer blotch. This helps blend the concealer, which at this point could be worn without foundation because it's so well blended. But it is important initially to conceal a larger area than the actual defect, to leave a big enough area to be feathered out (as this, "feathering," actually removes some of the product to blend the border, and you want to remove product that's over normally colored skin, not your defect). Finally, the concealer must be set with a translucent powder, and this is where the fluffier brush (linked above) can be helpful, though most of the time I actually use this Real Techniques Setting Brush. This final step is absolutely crucial to make the concealer stay in place, whether or not you plan to add another layer of make-up (foundation) or not. It seems weird, I know, to apply powder under foundation, but it does work without caking, as long as excess powder is brushed off. I do apply a liquid foundation over my entire face following this concealing ritual, and the result is quite good. The only tip I have beyond the above regimen, which is a widely accepted method of application of professional grade concealers, like Garftobian or Dermablend, is as follows. I like to let the product dry a bit on its own before application of the setting powder. I simply work on other parts of my beauty regimen while this is happening. Really, just a minute or two makes a difference in the staying power of the concealer. Also, I think that after a drying period, slightly less setting powder will stick to the concealed area, thus avoiding any caking of said powder. I think that's particularly important for those who are using the concealer as the first layer of their make-up, as I do by applying a foundation (either airbrush, liquid, or powder mineral type depending on the day and the mood).I find these Graftobian HD concealers to work better than Dermablend and even Chanel. Just be certain that you select the hue that is intended to mask the color of the defect that you have. For example, the greenish one is best for concealing redness such as broken capillary beds around the nose, and the orange one is best for bluish defects, such as the type of under eye circle that comes with exhaustion. This Pink one is best for concealing browns and greys, like freckles or melasma blotches.

Great for undereye circles.
Great for purple/blue undereye circles. Use under your regular concealer. If you know how to set it right it stays on great. I also use their muted green for my rosecea on my cheeks. Works better than drugstore or any other color corrector.

NOT a good match for mineral makeup
I got this almost white cream highlighter expecting it to make a good dark circle concealer. Unfortunately, I use powder mineral makeup and this doesn't layer well with it. This is a pretty good cover for under your eyes, but make sure it doesn't get mixed up with powder. I did get a chance to use it once with liquid makeup, and it layers better yet needs to be blended well to look natural and not blotchy. The texture & consistency is lightweight and creamy. The color is ideal for porcelain to fair skin. Yes, it settles into lines. Doesn't work for me.

Try these! They are awesome.
I have tried every concealer there is. These are fabulous and are so reasonably priced! I have purchased them all by now. The green is the first I have ever found that is very muted and works well without being obvious. The yellow is a bit darker which is perfect for helping with malasma. The pink is subtle and beautiful. The consistency is about that of Laura Mercier Secret Camoflouge. Love, love, love these!!!!

Decent color corrector
I was looking for a very pigmented color corrector for my dark circles. This applies easily with a brush and does a decent job brightening. It's a little too emollient for me, I wanted something a little thicker and paste like but it works well in the undereye area because it doesn't get cakey or too dry. I prefer something with more pigment because I use a high coverage foundation so it's hard to find something that works under that without disappearing too much. Some other reviews complained that you have to wear makeup over these but color correctors are literally designed to be used under foundation or concealer... Of course using a green corrector isn't going to look good without a skin tone over it lol. The good thing is that this is easy to sheer out if you're not looking for something too pigmented or heavy. I think this would work well for most people who aren't trying to do a full coverage look as it is easily covered by a light base like a bb cream or sheer foundation

Holy Grail Product
This is a holy grail product!!! Perfect for under eye highlight that hides dark circles. The creme texture is easy to apply and blend. It also sits well under any kind of powder foundation or setting powder.

Check the size of this “sample”
You must be kidding me with that size? I have been buying picture perfect foundation for many years and bought this brand. I’m used to much bigger containers than a “sample” size. I didn’t check because on the picture it looks just as big as the containers I have been buying for years. This is not Dior! What a rip off!
