So, until I read this collection I thought I knew the stories of the Brothers Grimm pretty well. I stand corrected. Of the 82 stories collected here, I recognised less than 30. I didn’t enjoy this as much as I enjoyed the Hans Christian Andersen stories I read last week. Many of the stories are very short, and in fact a few are less than a page long. I enjoyed the stories I knew. The stories I didn’t know left me cold. The characters are all poorly developed and irritatingly similar. Some of the stories didn’t make much sense and they were, for the most part, very bland. Also, there were several stories in a row more than once which were almost identical.
