April 4, 1968. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is gunned down on the balcony of a hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. It was all caught on film, tape and audio. So why have we seen so little of it? The well-known photograph of Dr. King's aides pointing toward the direction of the gunfire is iconic, but tells only part of the story. For the first time, a remarkable collection of recently rediscovered footage has been chronologically reassembled. The resulting documentary allows us to revisit the tumultuous events surrounding one of the most shocking assassinations in America and relive history through the voices of the era.

Picture quality was not as good as I expected.

History presented fairly well
An adequate presentation of events leading up to that day, the day itself, and it's aftermath. The reporting just lacks the depth the event calls for.

Definitive historical resource on the assassination of MLK
This DVD was produced for the Smithsonian. It contains some news footage that was transmitted in limited areas and not rebroadcast. I saw this on television and purchased it for donation to the University library where I work. Before it's donation, it was reviewed by the librarian in charge of African American Studies. She recommended it's inclusion in our collection. While the dvd is not long, it is very powerful, and gives an insight into that tumultuous time that cost us Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Misleading Title...
Pros:Colour film of events surrounding the assassination with very good picture quality considering age.Cons:The title of this dvd is misleading,it should refer to events surrounding the assassination.A very short section given to the actual murder by forces unknown.46 minutes long overall, should be double that.Summary:This dvd is suitable for 12 year olds,as a starter on the subject. If you want to go straight for the main meal then watch Evidence of Revision which by comparison is for adults only.

Same old story.......
This documentary is basicly clips and reruns of all versions past. No new information. If you've read the story....this will be boring! Very dissapointed.

Excellent documentaire
Même si le DVD est sous format américain, on peut le visionner sans problème avec un PC. Ce documentaire regroupe des images d'archives de grande qualité, pour la plupart inédites. Introuvable en France.
