It does what it says!
I am (slowly) learning to play the viola. Along the way I have learned that i practice more often if my viola is more accessible than it is in its case. I used to keep the viola on a cat bed on the mantle, but it was too susceptible to being bumped by people putting other things up there. And there really wasn't a good place for the bow. This hanger holds both my viola and bow,. They're both available and staring me in the face to remind me to practice. And I like the look of the viola as a piece of art as it were.Based on other reviewer's comments, I had it mounted on a board that extended it an additional 1/2 inch from the wall. That way I can hang the viola without removing the shoulder rest.

Great, except for the plastic toggles
This would be a 5 star review except for the plastic toggles. So the plastic toggles (used to make the screws more secure if you aren't anchoring it in a wall stud) were less than worthless to me. I could not find a way to get them into the wall. They are soft plastic and were soon stripped by even minor use of the phillips screw driver to screw them into the premade holes. They did succeed in making perfectly enormous holes in my wall though. They were stuck half way in and I just felt lucky that I found a way to unscrew them from the wall when they were already too stripped to use a screw driver. I finally removed them, spackled over the enormous holes and got to work on installing the hanger without the plastic toggles- which was a breeze. The screws themselves go into sheetrock like butter- they are very easy to install and the entire thing can be up on the wall in no time. It feels very secure even without the plastic toggles and as I have only a student quality violin, I am satisfied that it is already far safer than hanging out on crowded surfaces in my small apartment.

Love them!
We bought a four pack for two violins and two 15.5 inch violas and are very impressed with the quality. We skipped the anchors and put them in studs instead. I love that the instruments go on easily, are very secure, are cushioned, fit the shoulder rests so I don’t have to take them off, and have a place for the bows. The only complaint that I have is that the bows don’t fit on the nub very well. The little nubs that stick out are too thick for a violin bow (fits my viola bow, but it’s a tight squeeze).

Five Stars
This is a quality brand that flat out works. The included hardware makes installation a breeze. Once installed, the hanger holds onto the instrument well and I have no fear of it falling out of the holder. This company makes different sized hangers for a variety of instruments such as mandolins, violins, guitars, banjos, etc. One thing to watch out for is that the material the hanger is made from will not damage nitro cellulose finishes. The string swing brand does not cause this type of damage. That combined with the strength of the hangers has made me a repeat customer. I simply wouldn't trust any other brand.

This is my 4th one, I love it!
I love these hangers. I don't have a big place and these are great space savers, they look nice and work just the way I hoped they would. They also really helped my kids practice. I have 4 of them over our piano. 4 instruments hang there: ukulele, 1/2 size guitar, 1/2 violin, and 3/4 violin. Looks nice, it's our music corner. The most important part is that it made my daughter practice her violin way more often. Maybe I should care for the bow more than I do, but instead of keeping the violin in its case, we had it hanging over the toy bins with shoulder pad attached and bow all tight and rosined. My 7 year old daughter played way less often when she had to go through the trouble of opening the case, doing all that prep: putting pads, rosins, tighting bow. Then putting it all back. When I hung the violin over her toys, every time she played with her toys, she looked at the violin. Many times a day, she's grab violin and play instead of her toys. She'd just grab it, play, and hang it back. She practiced way more often that way, and she made much bigger improvement. When we moved to a new house, I bought more and we all hung the instruments over the piano. I did the same with flutes (bought a stand and not store in cases). The smaller violin also has those wires that guide the bow (for my younger son now), as well as frog and fish to teach the correct bow hold. The frog/fish makes the bow not fit in the case well, so we bought extra bow. All that "gear" on the violin would be a major pain in the.... to put on and off. These hangers are such life savers. We only have to disassemble it all once a week to go to lessons. I would highly recommend these hangers to anyone, especially if you want to encourage your kids to practice often without reminding (or nagging).

Just what I wanted
I purchased this hanger to be used in a shadow box I made for an old violin that my wife's father left her. I wasn't sure it would work, because the violin was HAND MADE, and I wasn't sure it would hang correctly on the pegs. It works beautifully, and the color perfectly matches the oak I used to build the shadow box.

Just what I was looking for!
My living space is a little cramped so I found this to be perfect! Came with what looked like deck screws and compatible drywall anchors. It mounted nicely onto my wall and with the use of a drywall hook I was able to put the bow beside it (looked nicer than using the provide built-in hanger; just my opinion). I don't think it was necessary but just to be on the safe side I added on a rubber band so as to make sure it could never possibly fall off. Definitely worth the money! Will try to upload a photo to go with this review.

Works but not what I envisioned
I've try bending this mount several different ways and it just seems to hang the violin by the bottom most tuning peg, though maybe that's the design. The bow holder again does its job but kind of points the bow out at am awkward angle. Since finding the sweet spot where it holds the instrument I had to close the holder so much I must turn the violin to get it in. I can hear the strings ring as it must be slightly wedged. Again it does its job but the must be a better way

Good product, worked for viola, not for violin
Very reasonable hanger, considering you can not really get any other with a bow pin of a comparable quality. Only thing I found when I needed to hang my violin and viola, with the violin's neck very narrow, it goes to the very back, touching the plastic nut. I had to use the hanger from Hercules instead for the violin, which did not have this problem (no bow pin there though). However, this hanger did work for my viola plus a bow. Here, I must admit that although it worked, I eventually did not use the pin as I did not like how the instrument looked with a bow hanging over it so put a bow elsewhere. I may be too picky, though.

Extremly useful and beautiful with the violin on the wall
An essential item for kids violin players ( adults too of course) The violin is just there , in plain sight ready to be picked up and the daily practice done even if you have only 5min to spare. In addition , it looks nice with the violin on the wall and the whole room is even more cosier .

Great incentive to do our violin practise!
Very glad I got this. It's great to have my violin at easy reach as I can just play a tune every so often without the hassle of getting it out it's case so I play much more. My daughter is learning violin too and has been doing much more practise since getting it. Was east to put up and looks good too

Simple to use, perfect for violins.
Exactly as described. I was concerned about an earlier review saying they were only suitable for violas. I disagree, my violin fits perfectly. I was considering getting the Hercules hanger, but I like the fact this one includes a bow hanger. I have bought another one since so I must be satisfied.
