Homestyles Monarch Kitchen Island Set, With 2 Stools, Off-White

Love this island! Had been searching for a white kitchen island to add to my small galley kitchen aswell as for seating for quick meals and that actually looked liked it belonged there. First pro is the price, I saw this exact island other places for as much as $1200 so Amazon price was good. It shipped fast and arrived quickly in 3 very large and heavy boxes which my UPS driver kindly pushed into my foyer for me and I could easily slide into kitchen because of my tile flooring , otherwise it would take 2 people to move. Assembly was pretty easy and straightforward and I was able to accomplish by myself (small female) except for last step when you have to put the top on and is the heaviest piece. Also tip when installing top is make sure you have the leg extension out and the top fully extended to get it screwed down to base. Took about 2 hrs. Very solid island. I leave the top up all the time and this thing won't go anywhere,, even on the tile flooring. Now as for the color of the island it is an antique white/ cream color and the top is close to maple...brown with a reddish orange tint. This was confusing to me as title said white, but description said antique and pictures on reviews varied. It worked out well but white definitely has a yellow tint, when I first pulled pieces out of box I thought it wasn't going to work as my cabinets are white but once the top is on it tones down color to be more white, but when you open doors you can see yellow tint on inside. Wood top color is perfect and goes well with my terracotta tile counters. Other con to color is the "antiquing " they did, an area on cabinet door has a splash of the stain so it looks like dirt spots to me, which drives me a little insane. Also one of the drawers doesn't sit square, and I leveled everything before tightening anything, so it looks like the opening is just cut a little larger. Again slightly annoying but not the worst thing. And to modernized it a bit and make it match my kitchen even more I added silver sleek handles instead of the included ones and it gives that built in look. Last possible con I want to point out is the backing to island on the side you would sit on is thin....it screws in and is stable but if you have kids sit there that are young enough that like to swing their legs and kick because well that's what young kids do.....you might end up with a hole. Overall very happy with purchase.

This is a beautiful island as I am using it in my kitchen. It is very sturdy. The wood top has to be protected with placemats,pot holder but it is so beautiful I don't want the wood top to be changed. I lined the drawers with Con-Tact paper to protect them. It is very useful it had plenty of room for my serving dishes,mixing bowls, silverware and some of my pots and pans. Most importantly it makes my kitchen more inviting and had provided a lovely area for my family to gather. It was fairly easy to put together. I put it together by myself and balanced it on the boxes it came to fastened the island together with the screws.

I received the three large boxes last Friday - be warned the heaviest is in excess of 110 pounds. Assembly was straightforward, the directions were brief but clear. It took me 1/2 hour to unpack and inventory all the parts, and another two hours to assemble without any assistance.It is an attractive piece, substantial and solid. Overall I have only one complaint, and that's why it's only two stars at the moment.The top is about 1.5" thick and unfortunately I got one that is not flat. There is a significant amount of warpage front to back, making it almost dome shaped. This warping causes the top to interfere with the movement of the drop leaf supports as they are pulled out/pushed in. Exacerbating the issue is the fact that the drop leaf piece is approx 2mm thicker than the main top. Both of these issues cause a significant misalignment of the top when the drop leaf is extended, and it is not in my opinion, even close to acceptable.The shipping boxes have big stickers on them with an email address and phone number to contact if there are issues with parts. I tried calling this morning and the phone number is strictly voicemail, so don't waste your time unless you wish to leave a message. I did reach out to them via email on their website, though, and after submitting the complaint (including photos) there was a screen prompt that indicated they will reply within 48 hours.I will allow Home Styles the opportunity to correct this issue, and I will update this review as the case progresses. If they can get me a truly flat top with a drop leaf that aligns properly, it's a 5 star piece (oh, it's also much less expensive here at Amazon as compared to Wayfair and Home Depot!)***Update 4/3/19***Just a quick update - I contacted customer service through the form on there website. That same day they shipped out a new top and drop leaf which was delivered two days later. Unfortunately it was just as warped as the original table top. So...I tried one more time as returning the assembled piece would have been a major headache.Once again, that same day a replacement was sent out which was also delivered in two days. What do you think happened? I opened the carton and took a straight-edge to it, and it was perfectly flat! Swapping it out for the original took just 15-20 minutes, and all was right in the kitchen! The top and drop leaf aligned perfectly!I'm now 100% satisfied with this product, thanks in no small part to customer service.
