Just about as great as the boutique mandolin picks!
My new favorite "cheap" mandolin pick, although the quality of this pick is not cheap in any way. I'm comparing them to Blue Chip picks which I've been using regularly and which I really love. The comparison is that these Dunlop picks are 95% of what the Blue Chips are but at less than 10% of the price. That is a deal. In fact, I've been playing with these Dunlops more than my Blue Chips lately and I'm very satisfied with them. They glide off the strings nicely with a great tone and the texture is easy to grip for me. I love the big rounded triangles. These picks are a game changer if I want to play out and not lose my expensive picks. Highly recommend for mandolin!

Sweet pick. Good feel in the hand.

This is "the poor man's Blue Chip pick"! -- IYKYK
Guitarists and mandolinists spend time and money on the never-ending quest for the "perfect" pick. Honestly, one size will never fit all; there are many variables such as desired sound, musical style, the instrument itself, etc. BUT... for any of us who have fallen in love with Blue Chip picks (but cringe when we buy them), give this one a try! The material is very similar. I have found the "feel" and the tone achieved with this pick to be VERY similar to my Blue Chip CT 55. At about 10% of the cost. I smile to myself every time I think of that. What do you have to lose???

I bought this for faster flat picking
Based on the research I had done, this pick seemed like a good place to start in my quest for a better guitar pick. I have used flexible nylon picks for at least 20 years, but when I started playing bluegrass everyone recommended I step away from the traditional flexible teardrop and try a "real" bluegrass pick. This pick is not as bright as my nylon picks, but it does seem to move faster over the strings which makes fast playing more accurate and comfortable. This pick has a medium sharpness profile on the tip which gives it some decent attack while also speeding up how fast it crosses the string. Some have a radical rounded edge which makes them faster but sacrifices volume. This one is a nice compromise. I was skeptical before I bought it, but now I think it will really help with fast flat picking. I can not say how it compares with the $35 Blue Chip picks, but I am told they are very similar.

Good starter pick
For mandolin, better than guitar pick but havent used the typical $35 mandolin pick (for just one). No idea why those are so expensive. Grip is decent on these and nice to have a few in the pack.

Great tone; but bigger than a blue chip
Been looking for a cheaper blue chip alternative. I loved the tone of the semi round prime tones and wanted that in the shape of a blue chip tp-60. Unfortunately the small triangle version of this pick is smaller than the blue chip and this version of the pick is bigger. Looks like I’ll be going with the blue chip. Still, this is a solid pick if you aren’t already stuck on a certain shape/size

Equal to or even better than Blue Chip
I play and teach professionally on electric and acoustic guitars, as well as mandolin. This is one of the finest picks I’ve ever used. I have a Blue Chip pick of the same shape and thickness, and these feel just a touch more organic. If you have tried the Golden Gate picks of this shape as well, it’s comparable, but I would rank them in order from brightness to warmth as: Blue Chip - Dunlop Prime Tone - Golden Gate. All are really top notch picks for any instrument.

Good and heavy and priced where you wont lose sleep if you lose one.
Picks are a very personal taste item; I've played mandolin 55+ years as my main instrument and I like them, especially for the price!
