Great poultry shears!
I'm very happy with these poultry shears. Very sharp, totally get the job done without strain. Well designed, easy to clean. Come apart for sharpening and cleaning. Good value. Nice grip.

Excellent shears, use for cutting pills
This is a great pair of shears. My favorite purpose for them is cutting pills in half, both for myself and my dogs. It seems that lots of the pills these days come needing to be cut in half, at least ours do. I was forever looking for a simple and efficient way to cut them down without crushing them into a powder. I place the pill in the “rounded” portion of the lower blade and I can make a clean, even cut so easily. No waste, no uneven sizes. I like the way they lock closed, come apart for cleaning and how lightweight they are. They are so handy and efficient.

Prone to breaking.
These scissors really work great.Unfortunately, the spring that opens the scissors is prone to breaking and then the halves have a tendency to come apart.

Excellent for bone-in meat, not veggies, plastic packaging, etc.
After reading some reviews, it is clear that some people do not understand the intended purpose of these shears. These shears are excellent for breaking down chicken: I spatchcock (remove the back bone) of a chicken each week and roast it for meal prep. I remove wingtips and chop up the back bone to make stock. I got tired of using basic kitchen scissors or a serrated knife for that purpose. These shears cut through bone/joints/wing tips like butter. The crook at the base of the blades are somewhat tough and blunt, and is intended to snag the bone without slipping off, and cut through with leverage without growing dull. However, the relative dullness of this section and the shape do not allow for that smoothly gliding point of edge to edge contact that is needed for slicing through thin, durable items like plastic packaging or even the chicken skin. The actual scissoring portion of the blade is relatively short, only the first two inches or so at the front, and if you start with the item at the very back of the blades in the crook, the item will spread the blades apart slightly so they do not cut. You can use those first two inches for cutting through thin, tough items, but it is not the most efficient tool for that purpose if you will be doing that a lot. If you only plan on chopping up veggies, boneless breast, steak, pork, food packaging, you are better served with a regular pair of kitchen shears, chef's knife, or even office scissors. If you break down a lot of chicken and save the bones for stock, as I do, then these shears are indispensable.

Do not recommend
I've gone through 3 of these in 6 weeks. All 3 pair broke. The inside wire snaps even though I'm not using them for anything outside of what they are meant for. My first pair lasted about 8 months which is acceptable. The next 2 pair lasted 2-3 weeks. I won't be buying any more.

Outstanding hand saver
Been using these for several years on processing poultry on a small homestead in Louisiana. It used to kill my hands trying to use EMT scissors to expedite separation of poultry into different parts to make the job quicker and save the edges on my butcher knives. These poultry shears are so much more comfortable and safer to use. The wider grip helps prevent fatigue and they resist slipping when the fats from the birds start adding up. I also really appreciate how fast I can clean them up during and at the end of the job. The little can opener is great for opening caning lids under vacuum, moving things out of the way when you can’t use your hands or opening a beverage. I hand wash them and I’ve only had to periodically touch up the edge lightly with honing steel. They clip nicely to a carabiner on my apron’s D rings or on a hook near where I’m working.Customer service is professional and wonderful to work with. I highly recommend this product.

These are just okay, sufficient for culling and butchering Coturnix quail
I use these to process Coturnix quail and occasionally a heritage breed chicken or two. They work but require significant hand strength to operate. They are fairly easy to clean but do make a heck of a callous on my hand after using to butcher 50+ birds. The ergonomics on this item are seriously deficient. After using these for several months during this year's butchering season, I am starting to develop some damage to my hand where these have rubbed my tendons raw during prolonged butchering sessions.Suffice to say, I am still on the hunt for a decent pair of butchering shears capable of both spatchcocking a bird and cutting skin all while not causing me considerable injury. These do cut bone well, but cutting skin is not their strong point and this often results in an incomplete cut especially at the neck or vent areas. They do tend to fall apart while using. Also, the locking latch on these is basically just in the way.
