In the introduction, Jeph Loeb said that Turner drew the best looking females in all of comics. I'd happen to agree with him. Not only the women look good though. Turner's Batman is one of the coolest looking versions of Batman ever. Even as much as I love Jim Lee's art, Turner's Batman put Lee's to shame. Like Jim Lee, Turner's super-detailed work caused him to become one of the hottest artists in comics. It's really sad that Turner passed away a few years after this volume came out. From everything I've ever heard about him, he was a great person. The comic industry suffered a tremendous loss that day not only because of his talent, but for the type of person that he was. The art in this volume, along with everything else Turner ever drew, gets 5 stars. This is one of Jeph Loeb's best written books as far as I'm concerned. I know The Long Halloween or some other Batman title would probably be the majority of people's favorite work of his, but I think he just nails this story. The best things about the writing is the thought bubbles of Both Batman and Superman. The way that each character knows the other and their thoughts of the situation and the other people involved in the story are superbly written. This just shows how well Loeb knows these characters. I don't know if any other comic writer out there could have gotten the story exactly this perfect. The writing gets 5 stars as well. This is one of the best graphics that I've ever read and would rank it right up near the top with The Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, The Crow and a few others. If you haven't read this and are even remotely interested in Batman, Superman, and/or Supergirl, then you need to get your hands on a copy of this. Review: A surprisingly superiour read!!! - First off, i think i shouls mention that i rarely write reviews, that said i will get to it now. I purchased this item used or new expecting a pleasant diversion on a rainy day.this is a very well written tale of with a few twists and turns in it that i was well impresssed by. as everyone "knows" Kara zor-el died at the end of crisis on infinite earths, this has proven to be a bad move on dc,s part as she was and is a very popular character.i was wel satisfied to see she is back although in a slghtly different form. Most of all i was stunned at how the staff at DC decided to show in just one or two pages why darkseid is a real "bad guy"! Big Blue is as usual his big blue boy scout self and the bat is as usual his almost grumpy grim self. there are good reasons for these states of affairs. this starts at pesumabbly public enemies left off. and Bats is a little cautious when it comes to kara just conveniently showwing up.this will likely be a good place for those who need a "jumping on" place for these two icons for the 21st century.as i have already stated darkseid is a real thug in this one and gets his too.i look forward to more from this team of writers.i gave it five stars because the images are crisp the writing is well paced but not too bogged down in details. it is truly a tale of Superiour people with truly "human" values.along the way we learn as i always knew that the Batman just appears gruff because he does care. it is his way of distanceing himself from what he has to do sometimes.he truly means it when he says he will do whatever it takes to protect the innocent and defend those that cannot defend themselves. All in all a good tale. ENJOY IT!!

Superman/Batman: Supergirl
This paperback edition is by far one of the most beautiful books I've ever had. The story is ok. Jeph Loeb made a re-introduction of the classic Supergirl, Kara Zor-El. I'm starting to get anoyed with all that "thinking" Superman and Batman do in every single page. I know that's something of a trade mark from Loeb, but to have books with two characters doing it at once is kind of boring and sometimes confusing. Anyway, and in spite of what I mentioned above, the story is good, and Batman is the man!!!. What it makes this book a lovely one to have is the magnificent art from Michael Turner and the impresice coloring. Besides that I'm under the impression DC made this with special paper. Is not glossy nor the other kind, but is something that's gloriously in the middle and it looks great!!!. The book have an introduction from Loeb (which admits Geoff Jones help him with this), and at the end there's a few alternative covers and some sketches from Turner. The last page of the comic dedicating the story to Christopher Reeve make it even more beautiful. Anyway, if I were you, I'll get this book ASAP. If I were DC I would absolute this book (or make a cool compilation of Superman/Batman stories) and put them in a Deluxe format. I love this book and I'm sure you'll love it too.

A wonderful book
Kara Zor El is back! After 20 years of fake Supergirls (Matrix, Earth angel, Cir El) the girl of steel of silver age gets a new life for the joy of her loyal fans. This beautiful album by Loeb and Turner brings Kara to the 21st century with lovely artwork and a well developed story. In the introduction Loeb says he fell in love with Kara and such love shows in every page of this outstanding work. A must in the collection of every enthusiast of classic super-heroes. Now let us hope that Kara gets the chance she deserves to be fully developed. Supergirl is more than a female version of Superman. As you know Kal-El came to Earth as a baby and was raised in Kansas. His mind is that of an american on a kryptonian boy. But Kara was raised and educated in Krypton until the age of 15. She is the last ambassador of an very advanced civilization. Even if she doesn't have much memory of her life at home she has the potential to became a tutor of his cousin as Loeb suggests in this book. And that's why all those earth girls with Kara's costume were not Supergirls. The krypton background was missing. If you like comics in the old style buy this book! Support the return of the lovely and unique Kara Zor-El

this book collects the fantastic supergirl story arc from the popular comic book series superman/batman. this a story follows on from the first book collection but it is not essential reading to understand this story line. the main thing about this book is the fantastic art work and the super sharp script delivered by jeph loeb is brilliant, however this book has the best picture of batman to feature in any comic book, when he rises from the water in gotham harbour at the start of the story. The artist Micheal Turner does a fantastic job, giving new life into these very well known charcters, you should simply buy this just for the art work alone because it is brilliant and would be a worthy peice in any ones collection because it is not often that you get a story line that has brilliant art coupled with a great story line like this one which also adds new charcters into the superman mthos with the welcome return of supergirl, which means we all get to see Batmans unwillinness to trust that this could actually be supermans long lost cousin, but it's just great to see the worlds greatest super heroes at odds end with each other over the new arrival. also the big battle scenes towards the end look amazing with superman, batman and wonderwoman and the rest of the amazons fighting agianst an army of domesdays.

Beautifully illustrated to match the story, I'm not going to go into heavy details about the book, you can read the other reviews about that. What i will say is, buy this book, if not for the action packed, Emotional story, then buy it for the art. You will not be disappointed.
