Ok, if you’re cheap like me, you laugh at those $500 pool basketball goals. So you buy a $79 one and it rusts to pieces in a year (esp salt water). So … this STURDY goal is a GREAT price (half the price of the pool store). I tried to get ahead of the rust issue because the rim is regular metal/not powder coated. I spray painted the rim and metal parts with a clear lacquer before assembly. I HOPE that will help fend off the rust for a little longer. However, hedge your bets—go buy the powder coated REPLACEMENT blue salt water rim for the $500 one (I found the rim for $65 on the internet) and you will have that as a backup plan if/when the lacquer fails and the rust starts.I dinged them for assembly. The plastic parts are easy. But getting the small bolts (yes others recommend buying longer ones) and the cheap washers and nuts were near impossible to line up with the rim and stablizer plate! You have to find the magic way to turn it so it works and counter corner your bolt tightening sequence.One more thing—the back stablizer plate does NOT line up with the blue powder coated rim holes. So get ready to drill when you need to replace it.

I ordered another product prior to this and have to say I am so happy I sent it back and replaced it with this one! After reading a couple of reviews about rusting (which all of them do no matter the maker) I sprayed the hoop and back plate with a couple of coats of clear some rustoleum. After I put it together (which is by far the most simple item I have ever put together!) I sprayed it again, especially around the bolts! The prev item we had was only out for maybe a week and the "rust proof" frame was already rusting! We live in Houston were the sun came be pretty harmful so I have yet to see how the sticker holds up. The net does seem a little thin compared to the last so I see myself having to replace it at summers end, but that would not stop me from buying this product again! The ball is perfect for pool play because it is more like a bounce ball vs basketball which on the last one we had was always bouncing to hard of the pool edge or backboard then going out of the pool! This one stays in the pool more! The wide backboard it GREAT! The last one we had I purchased because of how wide the back board was and this one is even wider! The small amount of space this one takes up is great too! Our last one had such a long tank that you had to step over it to get around the pool! This one is vertical vs horizontal and is just as sturdy! Bottom line! Love this product!

Overall seems to be a nice goal for the pool! I was looking for a high quality, durable goal with minimal metal parts due to our salt water pool (to minimize / avoid rusting). I like the size of the backboard and curved edges to help keep the ball in the pool. The ball is listed as a "regulation" size ball, but it's a LOT smaller than a regulation size ball - unless you're talking 5 yr olds. Regardless, it's good enough and nice that it came with it. The assembly was SIMPLE, when filled with water it is SOLID, and it appears to be a nice goal for the money. It was missing 2 washers, but I had a couple in the garage, so not a big deal. The backboard sticker was crinkled up in the box so I didn't bother putting it on. Besides, I read the reviews where the sticker doesn't last long anyway in the sun, so avoided the hassle / bad looks of a peeling sticker from the start. Suggested improvements to the manufacturer would be to use stainless steel bolts/washers/nuts and thoroughly paint the rim (the only other metal component, which had a couple of exposed areas) with a rustoleum type product to resist rusting - chlorinated or salt based pools tend to rust metal objects and this would be minimal cost to keep it looking great for a longer timeframe. I'll keep an eye on ours and if it starts to rust, remove it and repaint with a few coats and replace with stainless hardware. My kids wanted to play with it as soon as it arrived and I didn't have time to go to the hardware store / paint it before assembling, so just went with what shipped and I had in the garage. Oh yeah, one of the plugs where you fill the base with water was hard to remove and a bit warped - hope that doesn't cause a problem over time. I'm mainly giving it 4 instead of 5 stars because of the quality control issues (missing nuts, crinkled sticker, warped plug).Time will tell, but delivery was quick, assembly was simple, and the kids are enjoying it so far. Amazon had the best price by far! MUCH better than local pool stores and it arrived at my door in 2 days.

We ordered this item on 7/8/20. It took about a week for us to receive it, slide it together and get it outside. I had read about rusting screws, fading rim, deteriorating net, the “cheap” sticker, and and a too easily bent rim. I will validate our experience with the first 3; rust started after just 3 days (FYI we do have a saltwater pool), the rim has faded, and today the net broke to the point of being unusable. Additionally, one of the biggest issues I have dealt with daily is that the bolts, nuts and washers do not stay tight. Each day my boys or I use the rim, the screws loosen significantly. We also received 6 washers - which makes no sense to me.Also wanted to comment on the included balls. They remind me of playground balls. They are really bouncy. They’re close to a standard basketball size, but don’t shoot like a typical ball. (I ordered some small blue and white ones separately and their action off the backboard and rim is much more what I expect of a standard ball. Just worth mentioning.)The structure itself has held up well, so overall I’m satisfied. I’m willing to order a new net and try to find locking washers, or just keep hand tightening them. The CoolJam PRO by Swimline provides daily entertainment and exercise for my boys with gross motor deficits. I’m a fan!

My son and his friends enjoy the baskeball hoop, but I am disappointed in how quickly the red has fainted to a dull orange or pink. Is this not an item meant to be out in the sun? ... by a pool??? It's not only the letters, but the actual hoop itslef looks faded and old. For the price of this item, I expected better quality so it didn't look like it was 8 years old after less than a month. Otherwise, it is a ton of fun. Just should be cheaper if it's going to look cheap.

Awesome basketball net for your pool. The sticker and net did fade a lot over the summer but I’m sure this would be normal. The boys loved having this.

Net broke a week later! And i found it overpriced!

The rim bends a little too easy, but not too bad. Overall the product is great. Mostly plastic which is great around a salt water pool

This has been a awesome product for our outdoor pool. Getting lots of use and is standing up very well.
