This was a lot smaller / thinner then I was expecting, but it has all the necessary info. Yes, you need to have access to a machine shop, or at least a decent lathe, to make the pieces. But you need that to make molds anyway, so without access to a shop it would be a pretty useless thing to have around. There are a couple hobby molders you can buy for about $1000-2000. This would be less expensive with the added reward that you made it yourself. You can read a nice review of hobby injection molding options at: [...]

Interesting and easy to understand instructions for the hobbyist wanting to extend his/her workshop tool arsenal.
I gave this book 4 out of 5 because it claimed to be for the average person with limited access to more advanced tools, and held true to that claim even after a closer inspection. It gives detailed and easy to understand step by step instructions on how to construct the injection moulding attachment for your drill press. The text is structured in a way that you can skip parts you already know and jump directly to the plans and dimensions if you already know how to do it and in what order to do things. It doesn't get 5 out of 5 because the plans only have imperial dimensions (no metric) and there was no note in the bill of materials on where to get parts for building a 220 volt version. All in all it's a great book for the hobbyist wanting to build a neat and fun tool to add to the workshop.
