Light & Hard Hitting
I am no stranger to midweight electric demolition hammers. I have owned Bosch hammers in this class and I have used dozens of rentals, mainly Kango. I can't rate it against the competition brands such as Makita or Hitachi because I have not used them, but I can tell why I love this hammer. It is light and compact; seeing the case you would not think that it was a demolition hammer. I stress that it is smaller and lighter than other hammers of similar capability that I have used. By smaller I am I mean shorter by several inches. Desipte its size and weight it hits hard and I am judging this by extensive experience with hammers in this class. SDS max demolition hammer bits are becoming easy to find in retail hardware and lumber yards and this can mean a lot if you break a point off early in the day on a critical job. You don't have to turn the tool off when you are not engaging the tool into the work, at least , there is no mention of this in the manual and it doesn't have the conventional trigger switch. In the past I have found that the switches often wore out due to the constant on off needed to prevent damage to the hammering mechanism. Now I just leave it running when lifting the tool to a new position, or in the case of clay spade digging, rocking the tool to break up compacted soil. I wish I could say that it is long lasting and rugged but I have only put a few hours of use on it; so far so good. At least I can say that the feel of it inspires my confidence that it will be a performer over time and my experience with Bosch tools in other catagories has been good. To sum it all up, smaller and lighter translates into less problem and work for me. Hard hitting means good production and more money for me. SDS tool availibility means I can get new bits easily when I need them. I wish to add the fact that it is now 2016 and the tool I reviewed is still in service with interimttent use but hard use. I remodel, so it has undergone occasional use but hundreds of feet of drainage trench, days of stucco demolition, long hours of landscape digging, concrete demolition, and many other arduous tasks over a 13 year period have not slowed down or affected performance as far as I can tell. I have earned many thousands of dollars working with it.

Even My Wife Loves This Thing!!!
Tore out 20,000 lb (3000sqft) of Saltillo tile without a hiccup over six days. Re-sharpened the bits a few times. Could have done the entire job with two bits (the 2" tile bits). Incredible machine. (Keep bits cool between grindings by dipping in cool water!!! Otherwise you'll kill the temper on the bit and they will dull quickly!!!) Then I had to re-shape three hideous Kiva fireplaces after saw cutting. With a point bit and the small 1" chisel, the job was a snap. Then, I had to replace four vent covers off my foam roof with larger ones. The 6" grout chisel slid along the galvanized without harming it and peeled back the foam with ease. Then, I had to tear out the tile shower in the master bath. With the 1" chisel blade, it cracked the wall tile and the point chisel easily cracked the floor pan, popping it clear of the slab. Hard work made much easier with this machine. Then, I had to chisel out between saw cuts in the living room floor receptacle and in the shower floor where I had to re-locate a drain. Cake. Took a few minutes. THEN, my wife, who was dutifully pulling up carpet nail strips with a hammer and chisel, saw how easy the Bosch did the job, now SHE is using it to get all the nail strips up. Initially leery of a $700 tool, she has said more than once how absolutely indispensable this thing has been on this remodel job. We even used it to pull off baseboards! This Bosch is a very precise "destroyer." it brings a tremendous amount of energy to a small area and allows you to control that energy to your advantage. After paying for itself many times over, we'll still hold on to it after we are through because it makes digging holes for plants much easier here in rocky Phoenix! I even have more patio tile to remove at some future date. Awesome tool indeed. Indispensable! One note: TAKE CARE OF YOUR BITS!!! You have to put a tiny amount of the supplied grease on the bit shanks to keep the bits from wearing the hammer chuck. Clean them every time you remove one and only use a pea-sized amount on the next bit you use. That will keep the chuck in great shape and keep the bits running smooth and cool. I'd give this thing ten stars if I could.

rob in Marathon
I rented a copy of this tool locally--it was brand new--I guess most of the entire stock of the tool rental store was destroyed last year during Hurricane Wilma. I wanted to see if it would work well busting out a second floor tub/pool that a previous owner had in the house. The tub/pool was on second floor but hung down into the first floor kitchen. The tub was 12 inch thick, overly/excessively reinforced with with 5/8 inch rebar throughout. The tub was 4 feet wide, 8 feet long, & 4 1/2 feet deep. The tool was working so well, that after one-day rental, I decided to buy one on Amazon to complete the project at my leisure. With a friend's help, we knoocked it out in two days & I could not have done it without this demolition hammer . . . EASY to use & hold but POWERFUL. I thought I'd sell the tool at about 1/2 of what I paid on Amazon after I was finished, BUT, I loved this tool so much I'm keeping it in my tool collection. This Bosch powerhouse is a keeper. Oh boy, if only I had this too years ago . .. It has a great storage case & easy to pull out, load a chisel & you're off. And it has a great long, heavy duty power cord built in so even if you need an extension cord, you have plenty of cord to keep it far out of your working area. I love, really love this tool, & of course, it lives up to the Bosch high-quality reputation. Oh, also got this on a 10% Amazon discount with free shipping . . . worth every single cent . . . This tool is idiot proof.

Bosch 11316 Demo has competitors but remains the industry's best
Decades old demolition hammer which I barrowed years ago and used for several months I just bought for a few hundred less than from industrial supply stores. There is not a more powerful, low vibration, quiet tool in the industry. The price is lower than twenty years ago. If you want the tool recommended by most who use demolition tools this is the time to buy it.

Very Powerful.
Very powerful. I repaired about 6 - 5 ft long cracks, chiseling 1/2" to 1-1/2" deep, from eye level to my ankles, and it bored out perfect grooves in about 20 minutes total. I used a Bosch HS1911 SDD-max Hammer Steel 12" Flat Chisel. No noticeable wear at all. It is a bit heavy to do as much as I did as fast as I did. I spent about an hour both boring my grooves (20 minutes) and mixing/filling in with the cement/mortar (45 minutes). I could have hired someone to do the job as this is the only reason I bought the Hammer. But even with purchasing everything, I spent less than I would have hiring someone to do it for me. So now I have the Hammer as well. It is a great tool.

Work and Fun, Fun, Style, Inspiring>
True work horse. More for the yuppy crowd. You have to wear a black turtle neck and black driving gloves to get the full bosch experience. This machine makes you want to put in the extra hours. It brings fun back into work. Thank you Bosch for thinking of the labourer.
