Q: what is the depth of the box? I only have 3" beams so I'm looking to find something that will fit.

It is made to fit in a 2 X 4 wall.. if you have 3 inch walls you may need to cut it to fit.

Q: Does this product need to be installed with hydro ban adhesive and sealant? can i just use the cement i am using for the tiles to make it water proof

You need to use the hydro ban, or anything that is a polyurethane base.

Q: Are these pre-sloped?

The tile installer should ensure the base row of tile is adequately sloped for proper drainage
