I have owned this product for many years…think the first one lasted over 10 years. Just bought two more.

I keep mine charging on an east facing window sill that is shaded. Never had an issue until this summer. The heat or little sun it got faded the metal to a bronze color. I live in the desert and it was a brutal summer. I took it out of the sun and in a week the battery was dead with no use, but it recharged. I may have messed up the battery. Other then that, I am here to by more. They make excellent gifts .

I love this flashlight because it is solar powered. I can keep it in the car window where it stays charged and is readily available as a flashlight, red flashing light for an accident, a seatbelt cutter, a window breaker, a phone charger, a compass, or even a weapon if you're attacked. Excellent buy!

Warning!All functions seemed to work until we used the USB battery to charge a cell phone during a recent disaster. Within one hour we began to smell smoke that had the distinct smell of electrical components burning. After spending much time wasted checking the building wiring we located the source coming from this flashlight. Fortunately the flashlight was on a tile countertop and did not ignite nearby combustible materials. Part of it was still smoking and so hot that I received first degree burns on my fingers when I picked up.BE FOREWARNED! Apparently Amazon endorsements are of little safety value.

Great product

I expected a lot from this flashlight considering my father has one and I had actually scanned his box to purchase mine however after a month mine stopped working. It stopped taking charge I guess because the battery lasts all of three minutes, literally. I have tried solar charging literally all day from sun up to sun down, charging in the house by the power source provided, in the car via USB port, different chargers I owned that did not come with the flash light, the one I did in all the methods listed previously and still no luck! The only difference I can think is that my fathers flashlight was purchased as a gift for him about a year ago and at that time this company took pride in making their products where as now they don’t. Unfortunately it does happen as they start to make money and find other avenues to spend less to make more. One thing I forgot to mention is that after it stopped working, I put it away in the box in a closet in my house and when I took it out to check everything before writing this review, the plastic housing over the solar panel had come loose. Maybe I missed it before putting it away but it’s literally hanging off so it would’ve been difficult to miss but possible. I hate leaving negative reviews which is why I waited so long. I wanted to test the flashlight again before writing and had hoped that it worked perfectly, like my dads but no luck. Thankfully I got this during a time they had a really good sale so I didn’t pay much but I had to still go purchase a different flash light and then the seatbelt cutter and glass break tool separate.Btw since I had to give stars to rate each section below and 0 stars is not an option I have one star. Trust me if 0 was an option it would’ve been what I chose. Cant rate brightness when there isn’t any brightness to rate ya know.
