Metcal MX-5210 Soldering and Rework System with 1 Hand-Pieces Black

We held a soldering class at work and the instructor’s shop was equipped with these. I’d never seen them before and was amazed at how well they worked for surface mount work. I bit the bullet and got one for myself and after using it for a year or so now and I’ll say that nothing else I’ve ever used even comes close. The tips are easily changed in seconds and the power is automatically adjusted instantly for the load. I can do parts so small they require a stereo microscope to see, or I can do heavy stranded wire connections just by swapping tips. It’s ready to go literally in 2-3 seconds after powering up and is an absolute joy to use. Buy once, cry once. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.

If you are using China cheap unstable heat source of kept replacing soldering tip. This will fix all of those problem. Mines old solder station 40 years old and still kicking. I purchased this power station and 20 pencil tips to grand son. likely, he will remember his grandpa when using his tool. Thank Uncle Sam's design such a good product. Yes, proud to say "USA designers are the best".

It works very well. The dual ports are handy, especially for removing SMD passives if you don't have the tweezers. This unit heats up in a few seconds and the tool goes to sleep in the stand to increase tip life. Buyers should be advised that if you want really small tips, you need the "ultra fine" handpiece which does not come with this kit.

I use one (This model) provided by my job. I do not personally own one. However, I would love to own one myself as these things are amazing. They are expensive, but they heat in seconds, the tips are able to be exchanged quickly (Which is how you change the temperature. There is not dial), and this thing works for years. I have used this for almost 4 years at work, and it's great. I have honestly brought personal projects to work because the soldering iron I have at home is miles behind these RF irons. I can't wait to move to my new place in May and get myself one of these.

We worked with those station at my old college, it was simply amazing.Compared to many other stations that I've worked with, the tip of your fingers with which you're holding the machine are very close to the tip of the soldering iron. Which makes it a lot more stable and easier to work it.If I could, I would buy one for my personal usage.
