Calcium Carbide Lumps 50g Bottle

I’ve been growing a pineapple plant for 2 years and it would never sprout. After watching a couple videos, I decided to try this method out and see if it would work. I placed a medium sized piece in and poured water like the instructions said. It started fizzing and smoking exactly as I imagined it. Weeks went by and I kept checking it every day for about 5 weeks, and I thought for sure that it did not work. I even thought about trying another piece just in case I didn’t do it correctly. Luckily my patience prevailed and I saw a flower bud coming up. This works!!! Don’t doubt it. And don’t buy the cheaper “fake” rocks.

Worked well for my 1914 Carbide lamp! Lasted a long time too.

Fresh and makes great gas

Perfect for encouraging fruiting of pineapple plants. This is the second year we’ve used these Calcium Carbide Lumps & the second year we’ve gotten pineapples. To help induce blooming, all you need to do is drop a few lumps of the CaC2 in a glass of cold or ice water. Allow the CaC2 to dissolve & impart it’s acetylene gas into the water. This gas is what encourages the blooming. Then poor the water into the center of the pineapple plant, the portion of the plant where the leaves grow out from. Poor it slowly so it leaves a small pool of water in the center of the plant. After about 4-5 weeks, hopefully you’ll get a bloom. This will start to grow upwards on a stalk & soon form into a pineapple. If you decide to just poor water into the plant & drop the CaC2 into the center of the plant, remember the reaction produces heat. Be mindful that you can burn your plant.

Very nice bottle and good calcium carbide. Not the best in terms of purity but generates acetylene pretty well. Do not use this for anything food related as there are traces of very toxic heavy metals like arsenic in calcium carbide. Using calcium carbide to help food grow has been outlawed for commercial purposes due to toxicity so just a heads up for everyone using this on their food. Use it for experiments only.

I watched a few YouTube videos then ordered this. it is useful for pushing reluctant pineapples to set fruit. I used the empty bottle method (watch some videos) so the gas was exposed to the core of the plant but the heat did not damage the leaves there. It is slow acting. It will still be 2-4 additional weeks to see if it works, but presumably I will have the same result as the video posting people.

Its not food so I'm sure it doesn't taste good at all... its for a lanterns fuel supply.
