Purchased this for Road Trip from DE to FL
Excellent product, great quality and really works. Girlfriend and i planned a roadtrip from Delaware to Florida and we wanted to have something where we can power up some devices. We like to watch movies on our laptop while we drive down (sorry no DVD player in car. not that fancy lol) so once the battery drained on the laptop we decided to plug this bad boy in and connect our Laptop to it to charge, i was also using the car plug for my Radar detectar, which we then connected it to the power inverter. and also connected the iphone USB cable to it. the fan is a little noisy to keep the device cool but with the road noise and everything else you cant even tell its there unless you really pay attention to it. The power inverter never got hot or over heated. and we had it plugged in for about 17 hours in the car. the great thing about this device is that you can run the USB and car charger thing (whatever its called) with out having the fan running. in other words, it has an independent switch to power on and off the power inverter (house plug thing) sooo you can run the USB and the car charger port with out having the other thing on and the fan running. i was extremely impressed by the design of it and thought it was neat that it fit right into the cup holder and it was in the way of the shifter and for the price it is really well made and solid. very content with purchase...also did i mention that girlfriend decided to plug in her curling iron and do her hair in the car because she got bored? lol i would highly recomment this to anyone.

Works Great in Multiple Vehicles - I Love this Inverter!
Greetings, you groovy Inverter seekers! My first review of this Rally inverter was in 2012 about four years since my original purchase. I updated my original review in 2014 when I purchased the same unit for my adult niece. By then, my inverter was 3+-year old and used regularly in our car, jeep and and long RV trips. Well, it is now June 2015. My rough-and-tumble niece's family of mostly boys have used their inverter somewhat regularly for a year. My 2012 inverter is still working like the day it arrived. I'm about to purchase a second inverter for myself, because I'm finding it difficult to remember to grab my inverter from one vehicle so I can use it in another vehicle as needed (yes, I know -- first world problems). For a moment, I considered checking out other models of inverters, then thought, "WHYYYYYY?" I honestly have zero complaints with my 2011 constantly-used inverter (which, incidently, lives in the heat of my center console) in the California desert, and my neice has no complaints with her year-old inverter used by her entire family in four seasons of the midwest. I am a gadget fiend (though my budget doesn't allow for the newest and greatest anymore, boo hoo), and I really appreciate how I can use this Rally inverter to charge up any of my gadgets as needed. As I've mentioned in a previous review, I have used it to charge my laptop, iPad, cell phone, ecig, Verizon Home Phone Connect (anyone have a better option than the home phone connect? I'm getting terrible reception lately!) and I can charge any combos thereof. I've never blown fuses or had anything negative happen at all. This product is just a winner. And, no, I purchased this, I have no vested interest whatsoever. * * * * * Just to update everyone, it is now July 2014 -- three years since my purchase -- and I am using the same unit. It is still going strong and I still have no regrets! Oh, how I wish I could say the same for the many other gadgets I have purchased in the last two years! :) * * * * I have owned my unit for over a year and it's working great. I use it pretty regularly in an older Jeep Cherokee, a Chrysler 300C and a Pace Arrow motorhome. I haven't had any problems with blown fuses or fried equipment. I've powered my laptop, my Verizon Home Phone Connect AND cordless telephone at the same time. I've charged my cell and iPad at the same time. I'ved charged two cells at the same time. I've charged various combos of gadgets with no regrets whatsoever. The unit is designed to fit in a cup holder but not snugly as the fans need to breathe. I am the passenger and I generally have all my "stuff" on my lap with the inverter either on the seat next to me or on the floor, depending on the vehicle I'm in. Also, I do not find the fan too loud. It isn't bothersome and I'm pretty picky with monotonous noises like that. To me, it's a low hum sound. No rattling or pinging or anything that works it's way annoyingly into my brain. A normal speaking voice is louder than the hum of the inverter. I'm very pleased and am about to order this same unit for a family member.

Loved the thing!
I have been 'stuck' waiting for folks many a time. My old Dell laptop battery life is under 45 minutes. In the past, when that ran out, I had to hunt around for a power outlet to continue working. Now, I just plug into my car, and continue on. It's great. Like others have said, the fan noise is there when using AC power, but that's a minor drawback (to me). The unit doesn't quite fit correctly in the drink cup of my Honda Civic, but some packing material will fit that bill well, just as long as I don't cover the vent holes. Best buy I could have made for $28. Note*** After Hurricane Sandy hit and before I got my generator, I used this device with a battery on my dining room floor to get myself some CFL lights burning in the house. It worked. Not ideal due to all the extension cords, but I had lights until the car battery (a spare I have in the garage) ran out of juice. August 20, 2013 About 6 or 8 months ago, the fan started making whining noises. It appeared to have worked itself out. Even during it's noisy phase, the unit worked admirably. The fan is only needed when the A/C inverter is being used, so it's not in use all that often. November 7, 2014 Still using this unit. The fan whines at first most times, but after a minute or so, it spins freely and does cool the internal electronics sufficiently. July 28, 2015 Unfortunately, this thing has more or less surrendered. I have to play with the power switch and smack it around a few times before either the red or green LED will illuminate. Even then, it will only fire off the rectifier circuit about one third of the time. Time to sent it to the landfill in the sky... The USB port still works fine, which is why I haven't chucked it yet. It's been a permanent fixture in my Honda for the entire time, plugged in always so I guess I can't complain since the car is used almost daily.

Nice unit with reservations
I just installed this unit and tried it out on a couple of devices. I'm using it in my 48 volt golf cart. I plugged the inverter into a 48 to 12 volt converter in installed a few weeks ago. The first tests were on a couple of radios. This unit introduced noise on both radios, even on FM (see UPDATE below). That is the reason for not giving it 5 stars. For me this noise issue will keep me from using this device for any audio equipment. (see below) Next I tested it by plugging in a medium sized desk fan. It worked great. I will be using this inverter for the fan, and for powering PDAs, tablets, and small laptop computers, which I have not yet tested. If any of these don't work using this device, I'll provide an update. The unit is moderately noisy because of its cooling fan when using the AC outlets. But the fan I tested it with masks the noise from the inverter, so the perception of noise from the inverter depends on the noise level of whatever you are powering. I gave it 4 stars primarily because it works and is highly functional with its various types of outlets. As far as this unit not fitting snugly into a cupholder, those who expect a snug fit in every vehicle's cup holder have unreasonable expectations. There are certainly a variety of ways to snug up the fit: Stuff the power cord in around the base, add a couple of pieces of foam rubber, sponge, etc. Be careful to leave some room for air flow so the unit stays cool. UPDATE: The first radio I tried it with had an internal loose connection that I found and fixed. When I first tried it out, I gave this inverter a bum rap. The unit is not nearly as noisy as I thought when using an audio/radio device. So if I could add a half star, I would give this 4 1/2 stars. Regarding fit, I sprung for a $1 koozie drink holder and cut an inch or so off the top so it doesn't block the fan. Perfect fit.

Odd design and cheap
I've had this for 6 months now and it's okay. It works for powering a laptop or charging camera batteries, but it can't handle much more than that. The design is top heavy and unless your cup holder is a perfect fit, the inverter wants to tip over. The little plastic plug covers are very cheap with sharp edges and have a poor fit. Typically the covers remain open because they don't flex enough to stay in place or they simply pop open due to such a poor fit. The USB port cover came off and never did fit, even from day one. When switched on, the unit is fairly loud if you are in a quite environment. However, while driving down the road, listening to music, and running the A/C, the noise from the inverter is noticeable but negligible. After operating the unit for thirty minutes or so, you will notice signification heat from the vent port. As a result, I will turn mine off to cool down if I'm running it for a couple hours to charge a laptop. One thing that I do like is the USB port is a passive pass thru port even with the unit turned off. So in my Ford truck with sync, when the USB port shuts down when the truck is turned off, I can still charge my phone with this unit without having to turn on the inverter.

Everyone Should Have an AC/DC Inverter
This is the third inverter I have bought for work and home. None of them have broken. People take them. In fact, this one disappeared after one use when I left it in my car to have it serviced. Ugh! Anyhow, people love these things for free, and I'm going to buy another one. They are useful for many devices you would plug into the wall at home. We use it to charge our phones (The one built into the car does not seem to work!), charge backup batteries, to plug in a laptop when the battery is low, or to run AC aquarium air pumps to keep fish alive when I move them around for work. This one is the second one I have bought to fit into a cup holder. You don't have to put it in the cup holder if you need it for a cup, but it keeps the inverter in one place for easy access and to verify that it is running. I think everyone should have one.

Power Up!
I have not had it long enough, but so far I like it. It is a little noisy (low frequency of fan) but it tells me it is on so I don't mind it and it is as if the AC was on at high ... It fits on a double cup holder of my acura better than it fits on my Cooper since the cord is a little low for the depth of the pocket for the cup holder. It tends to bend the cord a little and over time I am not sure if this might damage the conductors. I had two I phone 6 with the AC plug on the device, a black berry 9650 and a small Plantronics ear piece charging at the same time. The IPhone plugs were a little hot but the device was always cool and I had no issues with the power. So far so good. I like it due to its high output , lots of options for the o/p s and ease to connect. To store away it fits right in the glove compartment. I like the On off button. It prevents over use of the internal components and short life due to heat while not operational.

Just how bad can a power inverter be?
Just ask Rally, they've answered the question with their 7413. This company has sought to make the worlds worst power inverter, and has done so with success. I bought a cheap 400Watt Duralast inverter from Advanced Auto Parts at the last minute for a road trip a few years ago. Since I thought that one was just your average inverter - I tried to see if I could get something with a bit more features on Amazon. Enter Rally, with their bucket of disappointment - the 7413. This thing is not only loud, but it does not deliver amperage. I have an Anker batter that charges my devices 4x faster than this thing (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009USAJCC/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_Q1DTrb02NXMKG). The fan stays on - all the time. It's not regulated like an inverter should be. Although the concept of a cup holder is nice - it actually proves to be more cumbersome because of its unnecessary depth - why is this thing so deep for only delivering 200watts?! Clearly, you can see that I would not recommend this product to anyone. It fails on too many levels.
