Completely lacking explanations and details, only describes where to click to get same results as author prefers.
I purchased this book to learn about how to configure a CA, how to request certificates and how to configure certificate requests correctly, to achieve the correct certificate configuration.Unfortunately I found that this book skips over every detail that I expected it to explain and leaves it up to the reader to figure out what every setting means, instead of providing that explanation. The book seems to be written by authors who are used to doing things in one particular way, which means that there is no reason to explain why certain check boxes need to be checked or what it means when you write a configuration setting, as the author only focuses on displaying how to get to the same solution as the author needed, when he performed his configuration.Having read the chapter containing instructions on how to configure a CA, I am none the wiser on how to do so. I already knew how to add additional features and check all of the items related to installing the CA role, what I needed was information about what functionality would be added, by checking each checkbox.I also didn't need to know that I could fill out the settings with values I needed, I already knew how to do that. What I was looking for was an explanation for what those configuration settings were, what they meant and why I would fill them out. This book seems to explain what is already obvious, while skipping over answering any questions you may have. The book does however explain how to perform obvious tasks, such as where to click to start the installation wizard that adds additional server roles and which check boxes to check, to get the same result as the author needed when he performed the task, so I think that earns it two stars instead of one.

I am experienced with Windows Server 2008, but had no experience with Windows Server 2012, and this book helped me to accomplish all the goals I set out to do, including standing up a new Windows Server 2012 with the appropriate roles and services!
