Replogle Globes 83502 Illuminated Carlyle Globe, Small, Off-White

My husband wanted a globe for our granddaughters and this one fit the bill. Our 7 year old spent quite a bit of time looking at it and feeling the raised mountains, she even pointed out an area with no mountains so we looked for more. The light is enough for a night light or an accent light. The quality of the globe is fine, yes it is plastic but everything these days are so I wasn't expecting anything else. It suits our needs so we are happy.

It's the perfect size and design to gather around and brush up on our geography. While we say we wanted a globe for our kids to be able to understand relative distances without google maps, we really wanted it for ourselves as we plan our global takeover. With this, I know exactly how far I'll be traveling in the Schengen zone before flashing my passport to civilians or which port we'll have to use to hire a cargo ship to carry the loot. Plus, the internal light is just bright enough to add to the evil ambiance in the room. Well done Replogle, well done! Ima gonna pack it with me on the grand tour...

Two kids (3 and 5) really like to see where the family travels and appreciate the globe vs google maps, which doesn't convey the shape of the earth, solor system concepts, etc., nearly as well. Works well as an intersting mood lighting piece but the bulb didn't last that long. Overall a great purchase.

I purchased this when the price was $95 for a worldly girlfriend. The "die cast meridian" is plastic and the stand is composed of particle board with a P-LAM wood finish affixed. Globe only spins of you hold the base and rotate globe. I must have been paying a lot for the illuminated feature, because this globe felt an awful lot like a $40 globe. Returned it and bought the Hexhedra by Replogle.

After my lamp/bulb exploded when plugging it into the power outlet, I have asked several times to the Amazon helpdesk if the Globe can be used in Thailand (or other countries) with 220V. There has never been a confirmation on this, but Amazon did send a rplacement product - now I received the 2nd Globe and the plug attached to the cable is different: it doesn't even fit to the wall-mounted-power-outlet and I have my doubts (again) if it is suitable for 220V. This is a serious safety risk, where I obviously can not get a professional and reliable reply (it is not indicated in the technical specifications on the website, neither in the product documentation that comes with the product itself)....

Wonderfully detailed and illuminated globe even has 3D mountains, etc so you can "feel the world". Makes a great ambient light lamp for the living room and also is a wonderful reference for keeping up with breaking world news. All our guests comment how wonderful it as as both a geography reference, glowing light, and decorator piece. The "old world" antique styling makes it even more beautiful. We give it a 10 out of 10!

There's nothing I dislike about this globe. It is absolutely beautiful. I'm glad I spent a little extra for the aged yellow tint and for the light inside the globe. It's really special, good quality, and an updated map, showing South Sudan. Love this globe!

This is a great globe. Very well made especially for the money, spins well and lights. Coloring is very nice too. If you're looking for a reasonably priced and sized globe, you can't go wrong with this one.

Not disappointed. The seam could be a little more.....seamless. The light is a cool feature.

Exactly as descibed

Some sections of the map were barely readable due to the dullness of the colours. The amount of information that’s put on the globe is impressive but the appearance was unexpectedly dull. I returned the product.
