I know it sounds silly but there really is a difference between the one's you get at Target and one of these. It's harder and stronger yet still as light as any other comb you have. They also have rounded edges so when you go to do a part it doesn't scrape your scalp. Review: Hair wand essential - Love this brand and comb very much! Very happy with my purchase

Great combs
Wow. I have used Mason Pearson combs for years and swear by them. They do not scrape your scalp. My grandchildren love it when I comb through their hair, and never complain. I have several, the tail comb for parting hair, the rake, the regular one. I love them all and have owned them for over 15 years. Warning...do not put them in your dishwasher. They change shape from the heat.

Perfect comb, not long lasting
This is a wonderful comb. Perfect in every way. I’ve purchased five of them over the past ten years. They all suffered the same fate: a couple of the teeth at the end of the fine toothed section fall out for no reason, leaving a comb with missing teeth. The first time I purchased this comb, in 2014, it cost $16.80. Over the past ten years, the cost has escalated a disturbing degree, to where it now costs $36. So I tried to find an alternative. I bought a few different combs, and I really couldn’t find anything quite comparable. For the moment, I’m using a Kent 6T, which is made of the same celluloid acetate material, but isn’t as nice of a comb as the Mason Pearson. But it costs only $8.48, which gives you an idea of how overpriced these Mason Pearson combs actually are. With this comb you can expect to enjoy a perfect comb for a about a year, then be annoyed with a comb that’s missing teeth for another year, until you can’t take the annoyance any longer and either repurchase it at highway robbery prices or search for a plan B. BTW, this Mason Pearson cutting comb is 170 mm in length and 25 mm wide at the large teeth end and 19 mm wide at the small teeth end. UPDATE: Another option is the Speert #51. Also, if you’re done with celluloid acetate combs and you’re interested in something non-black and super high quality, there’s the white, Kenny Duncan Collection by VINCENT. (Search on Amazon for “Vincent white ceramic comb” and scroll down to see options) The VT1714-W is 7-1/8” (181 mm) long. It can be had for less than $10. It comes in red, too, if you can find it. It’s perfection in a comb and it’ll probably last forever.

On the Fence
This comb broke in half after 11 months of daily use, but it was fantastic while it lasted - a smooth glide through my long, thick hair. I use a wood comb for detangling, so I wasn't asking much of it. Thirty bucks per year for a comb seems steep to me.

Don't waste your money
I used the comb once and now it is warped and unuseable!
