Char-Griller 19586 Charcoal Chimney Starter, Galvanized

WOW. The coals heat up in half the time. Extra large canister and made of a quality Stainless material. At first I thought that it seemed like a lot of money for a fire starter but this is extremely well made and expect it to last for years. Very nice product

Easy to use no turning upside down to empty. Works great

I really like the trap door method of dropping the coals without turning it over which is easier and makes it safer as well. It worked great for months and then one day the trap door would get stuck and not drop. I had to remove the door and trim off some tin in places where it was binding up. Now it works fine again. I would suggest improving the design using better quality materials and hinges. Great concept poor design.

Well made and operates as it should. So nice not to have to turn basket upside down to empty.

This chimney is good in theory but functionality and materials are terrible. It was fine the first 2 times I used it, after that it began to rust and the bottom plate that flips down when you release the charcoal began to fail. It's not meant to take high heat, any protective coatings that are on the metal are gone within the first few uses. I would not recommend. For reference, I got this to replace a Weber chimney that lasted almost 20 years

Love this way better than the other one I had. Old one, you had to basically turn over to dump the charcoals out, and sometimes you get the fly away amber as you're dumping it out. That's ok for the bigger grills, but it was a little to tight when I was putting it in the smoker side(I have an offset smoker). This one is so much easier. Once you're ready, just put it over the spot you want to dump the charcoal and pull the handle, and out comes the charcoal. No need to tip it over. Should have bought this a long time ago :). If you have a combo grill(has gas as well and a burner), this fits over the side burner perfectly and you can use that to start the charcoal instead of wadding papers up to start it.

Great product

I'm usually the one who starts the charcoal and grills before my man gets home and this makes it super easy to start and leave to go gray. I either use it on the rocky ground or in the grill itself and it has never tipped over on me. Love the handle drop feature. My last chimney was a dump style and this one has a release lever!

This starter is a little bigger than most which is great. Seems to be well built and the flip base makes it easier to dump hot coals. Hopefuls the mechanism lasts but even if not it will still function as all other starters do so it’s not a huge issue.
