Can't believe I waited so long to get one
As much as I cook, I can't believe I didn't buy one of these sooner. It works so quickly, and is so much less clean up than a food processor. I am absolutely loving it. My incentive for finally getting one was that I wanted to make super thin fried plantains and this worked like a charm. I researched a few different brands, and this one made the thinnest slices from similarly priced models. Definitely worth the money x 10! It seems well made and is super sharp. I hand wash it as I do most of my kitchen gadgets just to try to extend their life, and I think this will last for years.

Great quality and extremely convenient
I purchased this to replace one I've had for about 6 years. I lost the pusher for my old one and I thought it was time to try a new one and see if the quality was still as good. The new one is even better than the old one. They have added depth markings to the adjustment knob and the plastic depth plate is more sturdy. The blades are extremely sharp and will remain that way, if it holds up like my older one. I grab this so often I usually hand wash it because I will need it again so soo, but I have put the old one in the dishwasher hundreds of times with no ill effect. The beauty of this hand-held mandolin is its size and the fact that you can hold it with one hand and quickly slice a few things without having to drag out a full size mandolin and then clean it. I highly recommend this product.

Works as advertised, but use gloves!
I like that the thickness is adjustable, but the handle doesn't grab on to things as well as I would like, so it felt a bit dangerous. i.e. I had to be extra, extra careful. One thing to know is that the nature of the adjustment mechanism is such that slices are not an even thickness. It's not the end of the world, but even thickness would be a big improvement. I also bought cut-resistant gloves. I WOULD NOT USE THIS THING WITHOUT THEM. Overall, it's a quality product, but truth be told ... I still use my knife, the old fashioned way.

At Last a Mandoline with Surprising Ease of Use and Great Results! / 2 1/2 Months Later Still Terrific!
It arrived yesterday, and I'm really excited and relieved -- excited because it really works and relieved because previous mandoline purchases, with many moving parts, had convinced me that I was flunking mandoline. I first looked it over quizzically, even tried to remove parts that don't come off. Then I was ready. I pulled out a collection of vegetables, set the dial to one of the lower settings, and started slicing. It was so effortless that I checked several times to see if there were any slices underneath. They were all there. If you just want to slice stuff thin and in record time, this is the one. Hallelujah! Update April 19, 2017: My favorite tool. Terrific confidence builder. I use it constantly for salads and soups. This eve I halved lengthwise, then sliced a medium Yukon gold potato and half of a red onion, tossed the combo in a tsp + of salad oil, salt, pepper. I did 7 minutes and a flip for another 7 in my air fryer and stopped before the last 4 to add a bit of very flavorful crumbled meatloaf. It was all crunchy and great. Remember when your veggie gets too short, use the guard, or slice the last bit with a knife, or pitch it-- there's so little waste.

The best
I have searched for a mandoline that does everything and tried many. I stumbled on this one and I can get rid of all the others. This mandoline has so many pros and not one con. I love you can easily adjust the thinness with just a twist of the knob, and the slices are all uniform. It is so easy to hold and use, and safety is built into it, kudos to the designers of this mandoline. It is compact, easy to clean and so easy to store. I keep it on a magnetic hook on the side of the fridge. Using it doesn't require changing blades or removing parts for cleaning. The price is right too, I don't believe a mandoline twice as much would be any better. I found the perfect mandoline.

Best Slicer on the Market stll the same as one I got over a decade ago!
this is the best and quickest hand slicer you will ever find. I have tried them all. this is the only one that has a v shaped blade. All others are slanted or straight and get food caught and are hard to get the perfect slices. I use this one daily, replaced one I bought over 10 years ago only because the slice adjuster had broken, but even then still slices perfectly. I even gave it to my husband to use at work. I have bought them all, not joking, I even have the attachments for my mixer yet this one still is the most handy and most used in my home.

Wedge shaped slices, non-serviceable or replaceable blades.
This is easy to use but it's a bad design. My main complaint is that every slice is either slightly wedge or triangle shaped. The adjustment is on a single pivot/hinge, which combined with the v blade, makes it physically impossible to get flat slices. This is especially problematic with wide veggies/fruits. Say you slice an apple- the edges of the slice will be thin, with a ridge in the middle. There are 5 adjustments settings, labeled from 1/32" to 1/4". However due to the issue mentioned above, the measurements are meaningless. Everything will be cut thinner than labeled- the wider the fruit, the worse it is. Cutting an apple on 1/4" gives slices that are more like 1/8" thick on average. I wouldn't recommend this mandoline period, but especially not for slicing larger, harder fruits/veggies. Besides the thickness issues, the wider and harder the fruit, the more likely it is to get caught up and require a lot of effort to force through (and that's how you cut yourself). Speaking of safety, the guide isn't great. Doesn't offer a lot of grip. Really only useful when you get to the last 1-2" (and it's just as easy to use a folded kitchen towel). I bought this to consistently slice fruit for a dehydrator, using only on the thickest setting (1/4"). In practice, if the fruit is less than ~1.5" wide, it works well enough (but I wish it sliced to a true 1/4"). You don't notice the high points once it's gone through the dehydrator. The handle is rubber and easy to grip securely. My secondary complaint is the inability to sharpen or replace the blade, so this thing is disposable in a couple years once it dulls. Overall would not recommend. I should've bought the Benriner like I was originally thinking.

Dangerous
This is my first Mandoline. I didn't know what to look for. I found that there absolutely needs to be a part of the food holder that PUSHES the food. The holder on this unit tries to hold the food by pushing small slippery grid in the food. It shreaded the food and would not move the food. I tried it twice. Each time I had all the time in the world, and sliced myself both times anyway. Second time the device went straight. Most of the time when I'm slicing I am compressed for time, and I wouldn't want all that blood in anything I was going to serve to my guests! Then today I was at my local grocery store, and they had a zyliss 4 in 1 slicer grater. The unit was a little more expensive, but on my first attempt I got exactly what I was looking for. Consistant sized slices, and no blood! There is a world of difference between the two devices.

Excelente producto

Easy peazy
For what I have used it for this far, it's working great. I bought it for slicing potatoes at an even thickness, now my family get's scalloped potato's whenever they want! The blade is sharp, and the whole unit is sturdy. I waited a long time to buy one of these and I'm happy I finally did. It makes quick work of something that used to be tedious. Clean up is simple.... just be careful of the blade, like any other knife.

Mixed feelings
Is the blade really sharp? Yes. Can you make thin slices of a variety of vegetables? Yes. So in that I was pleased, and my kids are happy to be eating potato, beetroot and carrot chips. But it comes with no instructions whatsoever, even online the information is sketchy. I learnt how to use it by reading up instructions of other brands online. The black hand attachment has come off the vegetable support piece, and I don't know how to put it back on. So for the price I paid, and with the Kitchen Aid brand name... I'm not thrilled.

Great product. Slices onions perfectly, with no tears :)
Great product. Slices onions perfectly, with no tears :) slices tomatoes perfectly for hamburgers and sandwiches. As intelligent and careful as I am, I still managed to cut the top of one of my knuckles off. This was my fault because I didn't use the protective hand piece. I purchased an anti-cut glove for a few bucks online and resolved the problem. I also began using the hand piece, as recommended. You should jab the vegetable with the spikes on the hand unit, then you can slice everything easily. If not, you will lose control and the veg will go everywhere. All in all a great, speedy slicer which can be easily rinsed off and dries quickly.
