The Exam Guide was an excellent resource. I used this guide, the corresponding app and my DSM notes to study. I did not need any other resources. I studied for about 3 months, taking a 10-question quiz on the app 4 or 5 days a week. I thought I was ready to go, then COVID shut down the testing sites. So I had a few months extra to study.I took 3 practice tests: the one in the back of the exam guide, the one sold with the exam guide, and the one offered by ASWB. As much I I love the exam guide, I have to say the questions in the practice test book are terrible. They were wordy and unclear, making it impossible to determine whether you knew the material. I scored around 80% on the ASWB practice test, then scored around 65% on the Apgar practice test 2 days later. And a couple days after that, I scored around 80% on the real test. My point is, the Apgar practice test ( the one in the separate book) is NOT a good indicator of how you will do on the real exam. Spend your money on the exam guide, but don't bother with the extra practice test.

This guide has varied questions and good resources to explain answers for the LCSW test. It’s easy to navigate and highlights problem areas with a convenient chart.My only negative is there is an updated version with twice as many test questions (versions 1 and 2 combined) for the same price or less.

This book covers information for the LCSW exam, wish it had audio component as well. Great study guide

I passed my exam with this study guide! The test in the back of the guide was extremely helpful. The other test booklet that was included didn’t help and included a bunch of irrelevant/confusing questions. I’m glad the book empathized ordering your steps when problem solving/making decisions.

Purchased this in September. Passed my exam 11/28. It was my second attempt at the LICSW exam. I read the entire book and used the app to do the study questions. It was extremely helpful. I felt prepared and confident after using this guide. I highly recommend this study guide!

The practice tests are plain horrible and for LICSW and LGSW are not what is on the actual exam. They are confusing and have some very tricky scenarios that I think can be confidence shattering. The book has a ton of info, but it’s not focused and doesn’t really offer any help or guidance on the exam. I would steer clear of this, and use an actual training program like therapist development center that actually teaches you how to take the exam.

Very helpful for providing a knowledge base and identifying knowledge gaps. I passed the ASWB Clinical Exam the first time using this and TDC. I got a really good score too!
