I'm sorry, but this was a complete waste for us. We bought it to use with slider that has a dog door insert, but it was poorly made and not well conceived. The little cotter pin fell out constantly, the way of attaching it with tape and velcro seemed flimsy, and the device was just ugly. Plus all we had to do to get the door to open from the outside was rattle the slider a little, and the Wedgit would fall out of its cradle. Go to Home Depot and get an inexpensive dowel cut to the right size, then put it in the door tracks, and you'll be much better off and more secure. We got two dowels -- one to exact size for closing the door completely, and one a few inches shorter so we could leave with the door open a few inches in the summer for a bit of a breeze, and we're much happier.

I love when I find a product that is perfect for my needs. This is just such a product. I have sliding windows and because of that I got rid of my air conditioner. WRONG! It turned out to be the hottest summer ever in lovely PDX and with my sweet home getting constant sun it was 104 in my house with fans pushing hot air around. Not again this year. I got an air conditioner so I needed something to secure the window and this was just the right tool for the job.It was super easy to install and adjust for tightness. Now my window is completely secure and the air conditioner is tightly set in the window. I can breath easy knowing all is well.It took me two minutes to put it in. I placed it in the window where I wanted it for even pressure, placed the pin the turned the rod for tightening it into place and that was it.So simple. Get it, don't hesitate. It is worth the price for this kind of security.

Excellent product and does what it should. Unfortunately it is not klutzproof. My wife managed to break off the end that stays in the door frame. Quite a trick, actually, but not the first time she has shown that no engineer is going to create something she can't break.I would also tape the pin to the device. My wife took it out after getting the door open, couldn't figure out what it was and through it out. Attaching it with some kind of string might also keep you from having to pick it up once you twist the item looser.If I could add an improvement it would be to have in big red print "Twist to loosen V" and "Twist to tighten ^"

Easy to install. More than solid enough. The ratcheting/screwing mechanism allows you get a good compression of the sliding door into the opposite door edge or, in my case, into the pet door (this was especially good for me since my sliding door is a little crooked and it needed the extra pressure to get a good compression of the weather seal). My only issue is that the stopper is not both short enough to work when the pet door is installed and long enough to work when the pet door is removed, but the geometry of the situation prevents this from being a possibility.

This meets the needs I have for securing my sliding patio door after installing a dog door. I bought two to secure both the upper and lower portion of the sliding door. After applying some extra weatherstripping to both sides of the dog door, and installing and tightening these bars, there are no cracks left for bugs to get in the house through - very happy about that!

The plastic pin that holds the inner rod keeps falling off. Would be better if there was a “lock” for the pin. Other than that, it works great!

Very easy to use and install. The only one I could find on the market for a reasonable price that worked with a sliding glass door pet door panel insert. If you're not careful the locking pin can easily slip out when you undo the lock, which is mostly a nuisance and not a security risk.
