NuFun Activities Heat Transfer Paper for Wood, 8.5x11in, 5 Sheets

I've used these for a while. Started selling my artwork and building a market booth last year. Wanted to make my own signs and transfer some of my images on wood panels (8" x 10") to experiment with for drawing and painting into. You definitely have to watch the heat. There's no magic formula or solution to get it right. The transfer can bubble and crack if you hold your heat source in one place for too long. This is evident in my experimentation. I do have a tiny craft iron that I will use next time to spot touch up places that haven't adhered completely. Putting the iron in a spot already well adhered is a big problem for me. I bought an normal non-steam iron (couldn't afford a heat press!) that has no holes in the bottom to give a more even heat distribution. I made a large sign using 4-5 pieces to make an 18" round sign. This was tricky because I can line them up perfectly, but there is shrinkage! The lined up edges pull apart. Had to adjust for that and the join was pretty obvious to me. I drew into the image and was able to disguise some of it. If I was doing smaller images, I think it would be much easier. Overall, it's an amazing way to transfer images onto wood. Keep in mind, they're not meant to be like they are printed on paper. It's certainly different than my prints and postcards, but that's kind of the point. I put a pastel ground over the top of the image and draw with pen and ink, pastel, chalk and oil pencils. The surface is a bit slick otherwise. I wish I could see what people are doing who aren't getting good results. The panels were done recently and the sign was the first thing I did last summer. Oh and don't forget to remove the backing or put the parchment over top. Oops. I've done both of those things. Yikes.

So easy to use so simple and the finished product was outstanding

This is a challenging product to use and I practiced with small pieces maybe six or eight times. I put mine on maple so there was not much of a grain and I made sure it was very clean and flat before I made my attempts. I used a black laser printer to create the image. Peeled off the backinng and placed it on the wood. I just used a piece of parchment paper and the iron. Make sure you do not slide the iron on the parchment like you would on a ironing a shirt because it will stretch the melted image and cause it to crack. Carefully pick the iron straight up and then place it down in a new spot. It does take time for the image to melt into the wood. Sometimes the image would appear a little bit white which means it did not fully melt. I think on my next attempt I will put the parchment down and then a very thin microfiber cloth between the iron and the parchment so that there is even pressure from the iron to the image to the wood.

It had been a pain in the butt to find a laser printer, so I’m happy that this is even a thing it makes photo transferring to wood a breeze, and you don’t have to mess with mod podge or all the wet paper getting everywhere! It applied to the word very nicely and I ran into a problems. It was a piece of cake. Will definitely be purchasing again

Easy to use just follow the instructions. Ink dries well onto the paper.

Use a heat gun without the parchment paper instead of an iron or a heat press. I attempted to make 18 ornaments (cutting the 5 pack of paper into 20 pieces and printing 3.5x5). Only 3 of 20 worked with the iron. I ordered 2 more packs of paper and used a heat gun with the 2nd pack and all of them turned out great. Using a heat gun WITHOUT the parchment allows visualization of the photo and the transfer process without burning and bubbling and splitting. You can sand the image off wood with a belt sander.

I think that this paper is fantastic! It is such an easy process and my coasters came out great! I got a little too quick a couple of times and it left a little bit of white, but that was user error. Make sure you get all of your edges and don’t rush and it’ll turn out perfect!

It took getting the hang of, but I liked it. I LOVE the support not many sellers will respond as quick and thoroughly but the people at NuFun definitely exceeded my expectation there. Here is some advice when using, do not use on painted wood, it seems to work best on raw sanded wood, works ok on stained lightly wood as well. Also, contrary to other methods, I had to really apply the heat with this and keep going over and over with it pushing hard to get it to really adhere. I liked it best for a transparent background with words, I did very minimal work with images with it, but you have to lay on the heat so it doesn't break the image. End product is a nice rustic look and be prepared for trail and error. But there is little to no products for iron on to wood so this was a great product in my book.
