Even more Harry Potter
Our family was provided an Amazon gift card in the mail from FunkoVerse games to purchase any of the new FunkoVerse strategy games or the related expansions. This was one of the sets that we chose to purchase with the gift card. We also purchased the Harry Potter base set. I have reviewed the base set separately and will not to repeat those details here.As a standalone set this might actually be a better starting point than the base set. The Potions Class map is more compact and has designated spaces along the margins that guide the placement the game pieces. Having played the base set first and this one second, I would have found this layout to be very useful when first learning the game. The rules and scenarios included in the expansion are identical to the base set.As an expansion the additions definitely add many possibilities to the game. The map can be used on its own or combined with the base set to make a much larger area. We just lined up the edges to create a huge map. Ron and Malfoy's character abilities compliment each other when on opposing teams. Malfoy's ability to summon a semi-autonomous serpent is officially my favorite ability out of all six characters I have played with. Also, having the Ron character completes the core trio from the stories which is fun when playing 3 on 3. My favorite aspect of the game is it's ability to expand. With a little creativity and effort, it would be very possible to expand on this set to create your own campaigns, maps, characters and items for a limitless number of scenarios.

Independent game play AND expansion set
“Expandalone” is a combination of an expansion set and a stand alone game, and the word means exactly what it sounds like. It’s an expansion of characters from the base set, but it can also be played as its own game, with no other set needed! I really just purchased this set for the additional characters and items, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that this game came with its own map and scenario cards. In particular, Draco is a great card character to add and makes this set worth it. It’s always fun to have more options and to be able to use the Funko figures instead of character tokens. I recommend purchasing this in conjunction with other Funkoverse sets so you can use the full 6 Funko figures (three per side) when playing and an avoid using character tokens. The figures each have special abilities and the sets come with items. This means more options and more customizing to maximize your game playing enjoyment.

This is fun for all ages
The game play is really fun. I like how I can mix and match the world (I have all the other sets as well). It’s fun to have Harry Potter battle Rose from the golden girls. I love that there are different levels of game play. My kids are a bit young at 6 but we can play some of the basic scenarios whole the more complex scenarios are held off for my wife and I. Good stuff.

So much fun, especially for HP fans!
I played this combined with the base set, but this can be a complete game on its own. My wife and I enjoyed playing!Positive attributes:-Great two player game!!! I am constantly looking for games that I can play with my wife, and two player games are really hit or miss. With the base game, you can play with 4 people, but this is really fun with two. We each had three characters to control, so we were loaded down with a lot of choices for strategy, which is great.-SO MANY BITS! This game is awesome for all the little high quality pieces. The player pieces, of course, are awesome. But the point markers, player cards, scenario cards, items, dice, and everything else are so great! Getting a point is such a tactile moment because you pick up a blue crystal to add to your pile. And moving the big head pieces around is really fun.-The potential for mixing and matching characters and games is really exciting. I'm imaging playing a game where Draco is partnered with Blanche from the Golden Girls, and it makes me laugh.-The game board is great- awesome artwork, interesting set up, and you get two options as the board is reversible.-Mechanics and game play are easy, but fun. The first few moves as you spread out your pieces on the board are pretty straightforward, but they get more complex. And the individual powers make decisions interesting."Not so positive, but still not a problem" attribute:The scenarios and some of the goals could be a bit more thematic. One scenario is basically "capture the flag" with a side of retrieving points on the board marked A-D. I understand that some of the themes are probably generic because they will be making an infinite number of versions for different fandoms, but it would have been awesome if a bit more effort was put into theming these scenarios. There's a little vague blurb at the top of each scenario that tries to sell it, but I would have liked to be trying to steal or protect actual thematic items (like horcruxes) instead of tokens with A-D printed on them. But, once again, the A-D point pieces are used in many of the scenarios, so assigning them as an actual thematic item might limit their use, or complicate their use over multiple scenarios. All that said, I felt like the HP kids and villains were playing capture the flag instead of battling it out over something thematic. This game will surely please fans of strategy games, and buying a version from their fandom heightens the enjoyment a great deal! My wife and I really like Harry Potter, and it was fun to add commentary and imagination as the characters face off or chase after each other.

A great game
This game is super fun and easy to learn. I love games that take hours and lots of planning, but quick games like this that tickle the brain are also super enjoyable. Plus, as a Harry Potter fan, I love all the little details, like the snake that Draco summons in the second book against Harry shows up in this game. Highly suggest!

Great family strategy game
We have both the DC and Harry Potter games. It took a few rounds to get into this game, but once we did we had a great time. We like the ability to mix players from different genres/universes/worlds into one game. The figures are smaller than normal pops and well made. This is a great addition to our family game night rotation!
