Great humbucker for all genres
Bought this to put in my Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day) replica Stratocaster, and it works perfectly. The tone it achieves nails the early Green Day tone and sounds better than the stock Squier humbucker. The pickup arrived quickly in a nice sturdy box with instructions and was quick to install, having only needed about 10 minutes to figure out the included wiring diagram. Would definitely buy this pickup again in the future for other guitars, as it's one of the best ones I've heard for the price. I use it mainly for playing rock and pop music, but it's versatile enough to play any genre.

A great pickup for all things, sounds good split to a single.

Great tone!
Installed on a fender start HSS and I setup to have single coils or HB switchable. Both positions sound amazing!Single: regular strat, but noiseless and crispierHB: can punch a nice gain for heavier stuff without the undesirable noisesNote: I am a DIYer, not a pro

Excellent pickup from Seymour, but aren't they all?
I have probably bought more than 20 replacement pickups in my life. I have replaced OEM BC Rich pickups with Duncans with great results, used DiMarzios in a couple of project guitars, and several other Steinberger (Spirit) projects where I have tried both brands. This may be my overall favorite pickup for tone, attack, and gain. It has a great thick sound with shimmering highs and clear lows. in my experience, Duncan does not make a "muddy" pickup across the line. This is a clear winner for me. This particular model was used in a Steinberger Spirit at the bridge position to replace the Steinie OEM p'ups. The guitar sounds incredible now. This was mainly bought as a travel guitar, but I find that the Duncan SH4 moves it up to be one of the best sounding guitars that I own. I put 2/3 of a set of Texas special Fender p'ups in the mid and neck positions on this guitar, and it is really a tone machine now.

This thing screams
I put this in an EVH inspired single humbucker guitar with a single volume knob. It lacked some umph, with the original pickup being vintage voiced (which was great, but not exactly what I was after). After the change to the JB, it went from good to great.I picked the JB because it seems to be the standard. There is plenty of love and hate for it.Anyhow, after the change, this guitar screams. I've given this guitar the nickname "the Snarling Monster." It's MUCH more responsive than the original pickup was. IDK if it's due to the increased DC resistance (measures at 15.8K) over the previous pickup (8.5K), but when totally open, it's like a Snarling Monster. It sounds like a vintage humbucker but louder and maybe a touch brighter...which is exactly what I was after.Love this guitar even more now!!!

Maybe consider a pedal instead.
Well, they are beautifully built and look lovely on my PRS. They have very good output. But do they sound any different than the stock PRS pickups? I'm not so sure. With a few distortion pedals in tow, when I compare them side by side with other humbuckers, they all seem pretty similar to my sensitive ears.

The JB!
This pickup is so versatile and will work for many styles. It totally rocks in my Les Paul. No wonder it’s the number one seller for Seymour Duncan!
