That would depend on your situation. Assuming this moves enough air for your particular use you just need this plus a grill. If you find it dosen't move enough air it has a 12v out that could be used to control additional intake fans that could be added to the grill.

How easy is this to mount in a hollow interior door?

Very easy. Just take the door off so you can cut flat. The provided stencil is helpful.

Do the controls have a way to sort of lock them to keep children and nosy adults from tampering?

No there is no way to lock and use a code to unlock that I can see.
