Effective, Efficient, and Very Fun Way To Learn Spanish
I had three months (conveniently punctuated by Christmas, no less!) to learn some Spanish before we headed out on a trip to Costa Rica, so after doing a little research I picked up this wonderful book for grammar and vocabulary and Synergy Spanish for an audio component. Both worked excellently for their respective purposes. Despite only making it through 11 sections before we left, I found this book to be easy to understand, efficiently thorough, and actually very fun to use. Many of the translation exercises pull from pop culture like translating a paragraph about Ron Weasley, Hermione Grainger, and Harry Potter. The way this book is organized means that you can see results nearly immediately, and the flash card app for your smartphone makes it very simple to practice the vocabulary for each chapter.I am a homeschooling Mom, and as soon as my 11-year old daughter saw how much fun I was having with my Spanish book, she requested on too and has been diligently working on even on weekends. Then my 13-year old daughter, who is studying French, decided she wanted the French version. When my Mother, who has studied French for several years, was over recently, my 13yo showed Mom her French book, and now my Mother is buying one for herself to review the French grammar. In the course of homeschooling our six children, I have looked over and tried out several different language programs including Rosetta Stone, Pimsleur, Duolingo (which isn't exactly a complete program), and for Spanish I think that the combination of this book and Synergy Spanish is the most effective that I've found so far. Quite excellent and fun! While most of the people we came across in Costa Rica spoke English, I did know enough Spanish to be able to order meals and communicate other things like "Can I go there?" and was very happy to know at least the minimal Spanish that I did. I plan to continue and complete this book in advance of an upcoming trip to Belize. Overall, I love this book and have been recommending it to all my other homeschooling and traveling friends.

excellent training . . .
even if it is at times a bit boring -- just force yourself to write out all the translations. The repetition repays you. Has ALL the exercise answers-- (the German version of this book is not as good -- unbelievably it didn't have the answers to the first few exercises. I would think that they would be really important to include.) It includes sections called Fun Facts with each less which are untranslated (on the page) Spanish sentences involving current people or characters which, with a little thought can usually be translated by the student on the spot. I'm 76 so sometimes I don't recognize the poplular singers or actors -- BUT this is very good for younger students!

Great Practice Book
If you're looking for a detailed explanation of the Spanish language, this is not the book for you. This is more of a workbook that allows you to practice what you learn more than anything.Pros:- TONS of practice material. The whole book is nothing but practice problems- Charts and pictures to help you see the words or conjugations- Review sections at the end of each chapter that incorporate everything you just learned- Language lab is nice to have on your phone. Good way to learn vocab without the bookCons:- No detailed explanations of Why a sentence is structured a certain way. It just "is".- Uses words it hasn't taught you yet and that aren't contained in the glossaryAll in all, it is a great practice book. If paired with another book explaining the grammatical ways of spanish, you would have no problem learning the Spanish language

Help your older kids get further in Spanish leaning
Using for homeschool. Want to take your kids Spanish above and beyond school-this is a great supplement for written. I'd recommend for driven middle schoolers or HS. One caveat is that the small sections that are more for fun at the end of some sections reference celebrities that your kids won't know (like in the family section it references that Goldie Hawn is Kate Hudson's mother or Emma Roberts in Julia Roberts Neice). Your kids will ask you who the people are and ridicule you-but it's not a huge part of the book. Just be ready to feel old. My kids hit this book up daily to chip away at a chapter a week. We use it for a 7th and 8th grader in conjunction with time on the DUolingo app adn with listening exercises on you tube Spanish Pod 101.

Great book to start learning Spanish!!
This is a fantastic, easy to understand workbook.I am taking a weekly spanish class that uses the yellow book "Easy Spanish Step by Step" and I'm using this one daily. This book is very easy to use and the exercises in it are great. They are very easy to understand and the directions are very concise. If I didn't have a Spanish teacher I would feel confident with the vocabulary and grammar taught from this book. My Spanish teacher can tell that I'm supplementing my learning with another book. The vocabulary given in this book is great to use on flashcards and they are common/everyday words you can mix in with your English to practice.I would definitely recommend this book and the app that goes along with it to check your answers.

Great for practice- Try as a ebook or PDF to cut down your everyday carry!
GREAT Practice book to go over with a tutor or teacher! Ties into the practice makes perfect series. As a nice little 'touch' it has interesting factoids en español about pop culture which help make lessons more fun and memorable. The book is a workbook, so the paper is thin but not as bad as those HUGE SAT books. You might be able to get by with this as a .PDF or ebook on a iPad! :D I like to digitize whatever I buy to cut down on what I need to carry, I'm building my brain through higher education– I like to keep the muscle building to the gym haha!Note: This is NOT a textbook to learn an entire concept from- it is a supplement.

Perfecto
This whole series is incredible. I’m taking private lessons and listening to CDs (I even own and sometimes use one of the mega expensive systems) and this book is my FAVORITE. With the use of repetition and fun exercises, I’m finding my progress is moving quickly. I have two other books (games and grammar) and I’m ordering two more. This series will continue to be pivotal in my learning

Amazing
Honestly, I'm only on page 24 with a basic understanding of the language (knowing a few phrases, words, numbers, months, etc) before starting but this has taught me so much. I can say a variety of different things, especially in conjunction with the things I already learned. I wasn't expecting so much impact so quickly. I can talk to myself and laugh about things in Spanish and it feels natural. If you want to learn, buy this book. It's the best learning tool I've found. Just make sure you know the alphabet and some pronunciation before you jump in so you won't mispronounce words.

スペイン語演習本としてコスパが良い
英語でスペイン語を学んでいたため演習用のテキストも英語がいいと思っていたこと、また日本語で書かれているスペイン語教材は割高に思えたことの二点から本書を購入した。第1章は平易な語彙が使われているが、進むにつれ語彙は難しくなってくる。また後半は復習のようにそれまでに出て来た語彙を必要とする作文が出されるので、繰り返し単語を使うことになり単語の定着に良い。

a complete waste of money
There are problems with my Kindle edition of this book. Parts of the texts are so small they cannot be read nor can the size of the font be altered. The informative part of the book is that which is affected. The exercises are completely normal but the information to complete them is of no use whatsoever. I am extremely disappointed as the content would have been ideal for my purposes. I am also unable to find any pathway to "Contact Us" so that I can attempt to have the matter remedied. I have selected a one star rating as there is nothing lower.
