Kevala Turmeric Root Powder 1 lb

10-2015 UpdateI ran out of my delicious Kevala Tumeric and started using another Organic brand (that I bought at the same time as my original bag of Kevala) that is about $1 less and comes in a nice container with a screw on lid. l really like the container, but I can't begin to tell you the difference in taste. This other Turmeric had a much darker and bitter flavor...blah! Even though I still have quite a bit left, I had to re-order the Kevala. I received the Kavala and was so pleased with the flavor and am happy to say that I received a bag that sealed nicely. I'm changing my rating to 5 stars now and looking for someone who will take my almost full container of Jiva.Let me start by saying that I'm not a lover of Turmeric as a spice, but use it for overall health and a potent destroyer of staff infections. If you haven't heard about this, please Google it as it's a highly effective treatment. With that said, I purchased 4 different 1lb "Organic" Turmeric powders off of Amazon. I wanted to see if I could notice a difference in the flavor from the various suppliers, especially since there was a $5 price difference between some of them. Now, I don't claim to be a Turmeric "expert", but after performing a side by side taste test, I couldn't help but notice how smooth the Kevala Turmeric was and how bitter the others were. The Kevala also was the brightest in color of the 4. The only downside to this Turmeric was the clear package it comes in. It looks nice, but is difficult to close once opened. It has the Zip Lock "type" seal.....you know the ones that you squeeze and slide your fingers over again and again, only to find that the bag is still open. If it wasn't for the bag, I'd give it 5 stars. Maybe I received a bad one, but anyone selling spices should supply a container that re-seals easily. All in all, it still seems like the best value for the money of the Turmeric products I've tried so far, but please.....fix the bags. ;-)

This is a good price. Tumeric is much milder and earthier than I expected. I have been using this for help with some health issues and also on some canker sores. It's nice to finally get some relief. This bag may last me forever, though, if I don't find some recipes to use it with.

The taste is a little too strong, but I am assuming it's doing the job.

My dad has occasional pain so I looked up some remedies and tumeric tea comes up. I purchased this for this purpose and the quality is impressive. The color is bright, the flavor is bold and overall I liked it. The tea, it's not great (honey, pepper & tumeric) but its just an acquired taste, not because the tumeric is not tasty.

I bought this product because my vet recommended that I start giving my older dog some turmeric, so I opted to make golden paste. I do have turmeric as part of my spice collection, but not in the quantity necessary for making golden paste. When I received Kevala Organic Turmeric Powder, I was struck by the fantastic turmeric aroma and the taste. I soon started adding the golden paste to my eggs and to my greens.I would definitely buy this again.
