Great screen
Great for web serfing, reading, tts, even movie. Such relief for eyes. A bit slow but nevertheless I am very happy with tablet. The screen is great, unlike Note Pro, Note 2. PWM for eink, really? Just why Onyx???

Good but was hoping for a more polished product for the price
Don't get me wrong, I like the tablet a lot. I use it at work everyday. But it's not perfect and for the price I was expecting better.Let's start with the good stuff. It works pretty much as advertised. The screen is great, I love the stylus and the battery life is impressive. Even surfing online or looking at video is better than expected. The annoying: setting up Google store is surprisingly difficult. There are very little information in the guide. It is also very slow (it took 3 days for my tablet to be accepted). When taking notes, the screen often bug. The text previously written disappear. It comes back after a few min, or when pressing the erasing icons. This is a little annoying. On the side bar, the Settings icons text is a little off screen. This isn't really a problem but this lacks polishing. When reading a pdf, it is nice to be able to write with the pen but the options are too limited. Why aren't they more settings ? (changing the stroke size or additional colours would be very useful). Adding comments would also be very helpful.Notes can be synced with several online platforms but strangely Google drive isn't one of them. The tablets runs Android but the integration with Google products is not great. There is a default file manager but it's not really working with the other apps.It would be great to be able to upload files to Google drive or Dropbox without having the need to install an extra file manager.

I expected more at this price
The still picture quality is great, however the responsiveness and refresh rate is worse than I expected at this price. I'm not just talking about not being able to watch videos (I expected that), but a lot of Android apps use simple animations in the user interface, and the refresh rate struggles with it. It feels very sluggish using apps like Anki compared to a 6-year old Android smart phone even. I needed to buy a large Android e-ink display because of my eyesight problems, and to be honest there doesn't seem to be anything more suitable than this on the market in 2020. If you don't absolutely need an e-ink Android tablet because of your eyesight, then I advise you wait 1 or 2 years to see if better electrophoretic display products arrive on the market. Also, mine developed a screen fault after a few months where a horizontal line persistently shows in a single colour, and from what I've read online it's not uncommon. It's still usable but again at this price you will probably be disappointed.

Perfect for gigging musicians
Expensive but excellent for reading sheet music. The large screen size allows you to read the same size print as from a page. You will still need a music stand light as there is no backlight. This is actually a strong point for me as it avoids eye strain. There is no music specific app included but it works well with mobile sheets pro. Light weight is great bonus too.

Very good ereader!!
I bought a week ago as my first ereader. The reading and writting experience is very good. I liked it very much. The play store was easily activated!

Sadly not suitable for musicians- you are warned
It claims to have bluetooth but is intentionally crippled to not work correctly with Bluetooth pedals. I have tested airturn bt-105, bt-106, bt-200 pageflip firefly, and donner models. None connect and when you contact onyx support they say they are "unofficial" and you should buy their stupid toy of a pedal which has a back button between the two pedals for turning, and lacks any of the advanced functionality of the models I mentioned. They work just long enough that a reviewer wouldn't flag it up, and then "mysteriously" have connection issues.Doubtless one night consider a padmu, which is based in the same hardware, but then you are tied to padmu's own software, which lacks features like turning a half page which are standard in mobilesheets the android equiv of fourscore. Also it can't import a mobilesheets library. You could try the otg with a usb pedal but can you trust the physical connection to stay solid when there is vibration? This applies to all of the max range not just max 3. Additionally they make the UI worse with every firmware update- you are forced to run the apps full screen when before you could have the toolbar with important basic information on WiFi Bluetooth the time etc. They "replaced" this with a "navigation ball" which looks like 90's spyware hovering over whatever you are doing and doesn't offer the information you need at a glance. It is so frustrating that hardware that could be so useful is made utterly useless intentionally. The comparitively primitive m96 had no issues working with Bluetooth pedals (except bt4 ones) - they are just Bluetooth keyboards- they must have put some real effort into making sure the pedals won't work.

Disgusting company that treats customers with contempt
Avoid! Their products break as soon as the warranty expires, and their customer services personnel lie, and mock, and do not care one bit about anyone but themselves. There are much better eReaders available, and from companies with respect for their customers. BOOX treats its customers like garbage.

Perfect reader for PDFs, laggy 16 shades of gray screen severely limits its role as a tablet.
It's perfect as a reader for large documents, as it's marketed. Almost perfect for note-taking, it lacks (yellow) marker, maybe a future software revision will provide it.Works fine as a tablet, those 4GB RAM and Android 9 are there, but the screen impairs it: the very low refresh rate make it hard to work fast, and the b/w screen with just 16 shades of gray means most images are just an aproximation. Using it I've understood that today's web is working based on images. I had worked years ago on a monochrome monitor with 256 shades of gray and it was more enjoyable (however those were the days of DOS, VGA and no Internet), only 16 shades prove too little. Of course, I understand what's in a image, the videos are inteligible, but it isn't like b/w photography, with gorgeous shiny surfaces and endless nuances of light. It's not black and white, it's black OR white :)With the text-centred websites (articles where images doesn't matter, forums etc) the tablet part is really ok. About aplications: Google Play was easy to "install". A few apps I'm using (most important, my word application) work fine.Looks hard and expensive to get a good case. On AliEx. and on US Amazon there are some, but not in EU, so I'll pay some custom duties as well. Also pay attention to guarantee, the seller desn't have representatives in EU.I'm very satisfied with the purchase. I read a lot and a light emitting monitor puts a lot of strain on my eyes. Now I can use the tablet for a big part of my work, and it feels much better. The screen means that I waste less time on Internet, because it's not that attractive anymore.

Buen producto
