I want these dolls to gain more popularity
In a market flooded with weird looking dolls with impossibly enhanced female figures dressed inappropriately (to put it nicely) with faces painted with makeup, in comes Lottie.Lottie dolls have realistic child-like bodies, moveable limbs, and some have bendable arms (this one didn't, but I think the Karate one does). The clothes are cute and petite and made with what feels like decent quality fabric (no flimsy, fraying nylon). These dolls are of excellent quality. The body parts feel solid; Nothing feels like its going to fall off in a week. The clothes are awesome and super cute. You can buy outfits and accessories for these dolls, and if your kid is creative, some other toys' clothes might just fit too. The doll is about 7" tall... perfect for small hands. My daughter has been asking me for a doll for a long time. She wanted something with hair she could brush and style and clothes she could change and design her own clothes for. I didn't want to get her a Barbie, and definitely not a Monster High or Bratz doll (not even Equestria Girls... what are you doing, Hasbro?) so I searched online for something that "doesn't wear makeup" was "wholesome" and "more appropriate for little girls" and "doesn't wear high heels or short skirts". I then found a review for Lottie Dolls and was led to their website.Honestly, they should have been easier to find. The designers of these dolls need traction, especially in America where teen pregnancy is on the rise and five-year-olds are made to prance around on TV dressing and dancing like a... an adult entertainer. I feel like the toy industry and children's television producers are just a bunch of pervy old men. Actually, I'm almost certain they're a bunch of pervy old men.I'm far from conservative... let's just leave it at that, but I do value a child's childhood. I think children should be able to remain children during this short time (toddlerhood through age 11 or 12) and not be dressed in high heels, short skirts, makeup, and be called "sexy". Asserting ones femininity does not have to equate to becoming an object for male consumption. Let's allow our daughters be the little girls they are and discover our adult world AT LEAST when they've hit puberty.Come on, America... you're kinda being a creep.

ADORABLE
I purchased the Pandora's Box Lottie doll because she had a really cute cat hat, as well as an adorable outfit, overall. I thought I'd see what these dolls were all about finally!Lottie dolls are indeed smaller than your typical 11 1/2" dolls like Barbie and similar fashion doll lines, but there are many good reasons why I think Lottie dolls are worth it:1. The doll feels well made. The legs are similar to the old school barbie doll legs that snap to bend - it works very well and it was nice to see that sturdy material being used again on a doll. The plastics used are definitely nicer than I thought, considering so many dolls at this similar price nowadays don't anymore and feel much cheaper.2. The clothes! I LOVE the clothing. It's actually made of fabric and not that plastic/papery material so many dolls get now. It may sound strange to be happy about clothing "made of cloth", but it's definitely a rarity. It's also nice to see separate layers (a jacket, hat, dress, tights, and rubber wellington boots) which all feel very soft and nicely stitched. There are even little buttons and pockets sewn into the coat, rather than just being printed on.3. The themes of the different dolls are great and I really like the different activities each doll is themed after. This particular Lottie doll volunteers at an animal shelter and she's dressed well for the part!Lottie dolls are just adorable and have a wide variety of interests/themes that kids can relate to. They do have a different vibe than the mainstream fashion dolls out there, so keep that in mind - as well as the shorter height of these dolls.Overall I was impressed with the doll for the price point. Even though she is smaller, I definitely feel like she is better made with way more thought put into doll and clothing details. The quality reminds me that of what I played with as a kid in the late 80s/early 90s.Oh, and I have to also say the packaging is so so cute - you'll want to save the box!
