Very well-executed knock-off
The bench is shipped disassembled with careful if just adequate packaging. Considering it's coming from China, it's not surprising there are a number of dings on the box. If you should see any major holes in the cardboard, particularly on the front or back faces, check carefully for damage. The two legs are attached with 4 socket screws and 4 lock washers each. There is a hex key included in the parts bag, and no other tools are needed to assemble your bench. There are no instructions included, but if you have ever assembled anything from Ikea, this will not be a problem. While the holes are not drilled very cleanly, they do line up well, you can't attach the legs the wrong way and the whole job won't take a novice more than 10 minutes to complete.I gave this product 4 1/2 stars, not because it is as good as a genuine Herman Miller bench, nor a finely crafted piece of furniture, but becausefor a cheap knock-off, it is very well executed. The legs are nicely painted in a satin black finish that is smooth and even. Each leg has two presumably adjustable glides that I didn't have to adjust because the bench sits solidly on our tile floor as assembled. The bench top has a clear satin finish that is also smooth and even. I assume the Herman Miller bench top is made of beautifully-grained single lengths of wood. This bench top is made up of a zillion little pieces of wood glued together with finger joints. This type of engineered wood is actually quite strong and has a type of beauty of its own. There are no knots or defects in the wood. My only complaint, and I echo other reviews here, is some of the color variation of the wood is very visible in some of the joints. I knocked off half a star for this esthetic fault, not because ruins the look particularly, but because this bench is otherwise so well made, you wonder why they didn't just put in an ounce more care in this area.99% of the population either don't know what a George Nelson bench is or don't care. If a lot of your friends are the other 1% or you will lay awake nights with guilt about ripping off Herman Miller, then bite the bullet and get the real thing. For the rest of you, for 1/5 the cost, this bench should make you very happy. I'm pretty picky and while I'm fine with well-done engineered wood, the finish has to be top notch. One of the drawbacks of buying cheap knock-offs is quality control. If you get a bench that has flaws, use Amazon's amazing return program and have a replacement sent.

A bench that couldn't be better
The bench came incredibly well packed. It is the exact bench I wanted. The construction is superb. Assembly took about 5 minutes. I would recommend this product to anyone. I like it so much that if you made a 3 foot version /I would buy it today. Also, the pricing is so good that I didn't expect the bench I received. I use it as an entertainment platform. It truly is a situation where a modern LED TV enhances and is enhanced by the bench. I said I would love a 3 foot version because this bench holds my TV and if I could get a 3 foot version to be used as a cocktail table the two benches would constantly enhance each other when both are placed in the same room.

nice bench
This a well-made bench. I was a bit worried when ordering since it is a replica, but it is very solid. All surfaces are even and smooth, etc. The legs are nice too because they come with pads that can be adjusted (screwed in or out) to fit uneven floors.Buyers should note, however, that the color of this wood is a bit darker than the original Nelson slat bench. It is not a huge issue for me, but the grain and color of it is definitely different.

Seems well made, wood quality isn't so great
This arrived in good shape (tons of packing/foam though) and went together nicely. Bolts felt tight so I think this should stand up for a while. The wood that the top is made out of just doesn't look super nice. There is a fair amount of color variation between the pieces and there are a lot of joins so it's not nearly as clean a look as the real Nelson bench. It's decent for the price and will hold up, but nobody is going to think it's the real deal but that's ok for the price.

Great quality!
I was searching high and low of a George Nelson style bench, and kept finding pictures that do not accurately show the product. They just copied an image from the internet and it arrived differently. I can say that this one arrived exactly as shown within the image. The wood work is good, no wood filler! The legs are well painted, and it was very easy to assemble! I did have one problem with a screw hole. It wasn't drilled all the way through (easy fix). But actually let it stay unscrewed. Each leg has 4 screw holes. Even 2 would be enough. Overall I am very happy with this purchase! Great price!!

I love this bench
This bench is everything I had hoped it would be. The materials are very sturdy and set up is very simple. The top is one solid piece so you simply have to screw the legs on. I bought this for my office but might have to get one for home too. I recently saw it used by a design firm as a coffee table and that looked great too!

It is a very good copy of the much higher priced original
It is a very good copy of the much higher priced original, but original has better wood on top with no blemishes.

Good quality bench top, issues elsewhere
The bench top is nice. Solid wood, well finished. My problem is that the holes for the hex screws to attach the legs to the bench don't all align with the holes in the bench itself - I was only able to get 6 screws out of 8 in. 4 screws went in easily; 2 more needed a little extra effort, and the last two are off by a full quarter of an inch and won't go in at all. (I tried all possible variations of leg alignment, trust me - that's not the issue.)I'll probably widen those holes with a drill or something similar in order to get the last two screws on.
