Superb sound from a good source
I have other headphones for music, however I was interested in what gaming headphones are like. I bought HyperX after reading that Beyerdynamic have been involved with the development of these headphones and also that Kingston own the brand, I also read the reviews from The Sound Guys on youtube. These Cloud Alpha S sound great, I notice more spatial sound from live recordings, I have tested them using a headphone sound test on youtube which reveals the headphones can play the full range of sound that we can hear. The Impedance 65 Ω requires a good source to drive the headphones to high volume, this is why the reviews of these headphones vary so much, if you put a poor / low powered signal in, you get a poor sound out.I have a very good PC with good sound, plus I also have a DAC amp which will drive these headphones to exceptionally high volumes.I am using Linux Mint on my PC, the headphones and USB 7.1 worked out of the box, however when using the USB 7.1 there is a restriction on the volume, ( if this is pushed with higher levels the sound just breaks up ) which is good to give my ears a rest and stay within safe levels for a while. it took a bit of extra time to enable the mic to work using Audacity, the mic sounds good with my voice.I bought these during an Amazon sale and got a great deal.

One of the best.
I was wireless before and I needed an upgrade after trying HyperX's cloud 2 wireless and having a white noise problem I gave up after 2 replacements with no luck, deciced to go back to wired and I can say I'm quite happy about it, the bass is great, they're extremely comfortable not as much as cloud 2's but one step below the sound quality is great as I play Valorant it helps with the footsteps,directions,etc.. I don't use surround sound but it sounded ok tbh, other than that I think they're a great buy.

Quality is excellent!
These are great. It's like having your head squished between a womans thighs, except I wouldn't know how that feels

Honest review for use with xbox, pc and mobile
I got these headphones as I wanted a good pair to use for both gaming and listening to music while travelling and they are great for both. Very comfortable and the sound on them is great especially for competitive games. The bass sliders work as intended but don't offer a heap of difference unless you have an equaliser of some sort on your tablet, phone or pc. Apps like sportify have an equaliser option when listening on pc or tablet and when u crank the bass up via in app then these headphones sound even better. Now on to my issues with them. The first issue is that the usb 7.1 surround sound card DOES NOT work on xbox at all, not even series x r s, however the the 3.5mm jack works just fine via the controller.Second issue is with the mic, which works properly most of the time. multiple people I have spoken with on console have reported either a lot of static or low sound when I speak, as if I'm speaking into the mic from 3 rooms away. After a few minutes of removing and reconnecting cables the mic will work correctly.Third issue is the headset isn't 100% compatible with phones or tablets. If you remove the mic from the headset and plug it into a phone or tablet, the headset WILL NOT WORK, there will be no sound whatsoever coming through the headset. The headset will only work on phones and tablets as long as the mic is connected, which is a bummer for anyone wanting to use these for music while travelling.THANKFULLY there is a work around for this as you can download an "Audio Switch" app from the play store and this will fix the issue and allow you to use the headset on phone and tablets without having the mic attached, which works great aswell by the way.All in all I would recommend this headset if you can get past those nip picks as it has fantastic sound quality, build quilty and overall great performance.

Amazing must buy
To start off I never leave reviews but these deserve all the credit they deserve, I play a range of games including escape from Tarkov before I was using razors they were good. These head phones are very very comfortable light and very easy to use. I have been laying for a while now and have never quite been able to know where an enemy is until now earlier I got these headphones I played about 40 games since then and my god they are absolutely game changing the weapon sounds the pin point accuracy of foot steps dripping water the whole environment that your in sounds absolutely amazing and then comes down to whether they are worth the money? In my opinion definitely yes on that. Are the fit for purpose? Yes. Are you going to enjoy your gameplay more because of them? 100%. I would recommend these headphones over any other they are definitely a must for a new or existing set up absolutely outstanding for the price sound quality is everything in a game.

Save your money, buy the Clouds instead
Bought this as a Christmas gift for someone who has already been using the Hyperx Clouds, though there really was not much difference between the two apart from the price.Bass adjusting feature: The bass adjusters did nothing - there was literally no difference.Noise cancellation: this was actually pretty good to be fair, definitely better than the clouds in that regardDesign: I purchased the blue pair and I have to say that this was probably the best feature, the blue looks really cool and I wish they did this colourway on their other headsetsComfort: can’t complain, classic hyperx comfortPrice: overall, it really is not worth spending about £80 more on a headset that does not differ much from hyperx’s older versions for about £30. Either go save yourself some money and buy the Cloud version or try out something different, it’s not worth that much
