This works quite well for exactly what it was designed for - a compact stand for cleaning rifles. It is not perfect & is small in relation to the overall gun lengths, but it works great! Folds easily & stores away so nicely. That's why I bought it, so I don't have to leave a larger, true vise on my counter constantly. Stability wise it is fine - no issues there. I have used it to clean a few different models of bolt rifles - all fine - and some AR uppers - again no issues. You could possibly put a whole AR in it, but unless you are simply wiping down the exterior, I am don't know why you want to it. It's not a gunsmithing vise, so if that is your need, go buy one of those. This is great for cleaning & being stowed out of the way.

Works very well for the price I paid. I just needed a small vice(not really a vice) to hold my gun while working on it. It seems sturdy enough and is very portable as it folds up and stows easily.

Ok, so, I bought this not being very confident it would be sufficient. Boy was I wrong! After installing 2 scopes on rifles, and cleaning my Franchi Momentum Elite .308, Franchi Momentum Elite 6.5 PRC, and Winchester Model 70 Super Grade Maple using this stand I was, as stated, "pleasantly WRONG"! All my hunting rifles fit and sit in this stand perfectly and it is very sturdy. When I bought it was worried about my Winchester Model 70 Super Grade. As I stated is has a very pretty and well polished Tiger Striped Maple stock but the soft rubber inserts held the rifle perfectly and left no marks at all. I watched a few Youtube videos of reviewers worried if it work with AR-15 and AR-10 platforms because of 4-sided picatinny rails or rail covers not fitting into the stand. Well it works! I have tried it with a Sig Sauer M400 SBR Swat Model and a Sig Sauer Patrol 716 Both have 4 sided picatinny rails with side rail covers. Not a Problem! Best part is it folds down to practically nothing! Now I'm not saying you are going to be able wrench on Muzzle Flash to a barrel or anything that is going to take some torque to get the job done. But, that is not what this is made for. That kind of work is best done with a heavy duty clamp down rifle bench vise. But for cleaning, installing scopes, and light work on your files this is well worth $24.00 bucks I paid.

Love the size and function. However I could not get one of the forks to fit properly, I found that one of the plastic guides was broken, stopping it from seating. I broke off the remaining plastic and it seems to be fine I was thinking of contacting Tipton but it's probably not worth my effort. Definitely a short shot in the mold causing it not to eject properly. Bending the stub that did not fill.

This vise is perfect for the range. Compact and sturdy. I own to other Tipton vises and I love them.

Exactly as described. It's compact and folds to transport in your shooting bag etc. Great for using on the bench at the range without taking up a lot of room like a full sized vise would. Slides apart to unfold, and the uprights lock into a recess so they aren't going to collapse on you while using it. Look at it before you try ripping it apart like Magilla-Gorilla. There's little slots and tabs on each upright that lock/slide together for storage so the uprights aren't flopping around in the way. Not easy at first to pull apart, but use your head and be patient. It works! You just have to be smarter than Magilla-Gorilla. Rubber coated uprights won't scratch your firearm or allow it to move. It's small comparatively, but does the job of holding your firearm while you do little things, swab out the barrel on the bench, or just need a safe place to rest your firearm while milling around the bench etc. If you ARE swabbing the barrel, ...be sure you have a good grip on everything because this is lite weight and even with your firearm resting on it, it won't prevent it from sliding or being knocked over. Use logic and a little common sense and this will perform exactly as described. A good deal for what it is!

Bottom-line is that the "Gun Butler" is a super useful tool/product. It is made of very solid, sturdy plastic--not at all flimsy. I hate plastic, but this product is super solid. The rubbery inserts in the V-holders provide some nice friction to hold your gun in place. The size is perfect. Small enough to be convenient, big enough to do the job. It makes for a great platform to clean or do a little work on your rifle or simply to hold a second weapon safely and securely in place while at the range sighting in another gun. Nice to not just lay the gun you're not using on the counter-top, but to give it a little more TLC. For the price, it is A-1--and because the price/quality ratio is so positive, it encourages me to take a look at other more sophisticated Tipton products. Don't hesitate to purchase this if you have a need for something like it--it's a winner.

This little gadget holds your gun in place pretty securely without clamping it down. Good for most small gun smithing work. If you're doing a lot of heavy work get a real gun bench. I was able to drill & tap a sling ring, stain & paint my stock & clean my long guns using this as an extra hand. Seems to work OK. Me likey.

Stabil und benötigt zusammengeklappt wenig Platz. Hackelt beim auseinander und zusamenklappen etwas ber für den Preis eine klare Empfehlung.

This is Awesome. Holds all my rifles in whatever position I need for cleaning, or inspection, or repair. Folds up small to take to the range. Not expensive, not heavy, has rubber feet. I'm impressed.
