Since my partner had a hip operation a while back, she's been using one of those frames with grab bars that sits on the floor over the toilet. It's a bit wobbly and can tip over if you push too much on one side, so I wanted something more stable. This one looked great, except I was skeptical about the installation instructions that tell you to mount it on the sheetrock with wall anchors. I've had poor experience with those things not being very strong, so I didn't order this until I'd figured out how to hang the bars on the wall more securely.What I did was clean up and polyurethane and old oak stair tread, then hung it on the wall using 6 long deck screws, into 3 different studs. The grab bar brackets are screwed into the 1" thick oak using the screws that came with them. They look nice, as shown in the picture, and they're VERY stable. No wobble, and no problem with using only one hand or pushing on them sideways. The wall anchors might work (they supply better ones than I've normally used), but I'd rather be safer and use a piece of wood.

I love this. It is very sturdy and convenient. I bought a second one, so I have one on each side of my toilet. I feel very safe. I especially like that it goes down to the floor and doesn't just use the wall connection to bear my weight.

I just installed it. If you do order the first thing you need to do is go to the hardware store and get yourself some toggle bolts. The fasteners they send will not work well on a dry wall. USA drywalls are 1/2 thick, the fasteners are 1" so while they may work at first, a few uses and it will start to become loose! Typical Chinese cheap stuff, almost useless product. Frankly I should have known...but finding American made is nearly impossible. Rant over! :-)

Very well made. You will need better wall anchors as the ones provided just pull out of the wall. I used the ones pictured. Also, I wish it was 6” longer. I did not want the type of arm rests that installed on the toilet and that was why I choose this one.
