I recently purchased this English language learning book for my dad, and it has been an amazing resource for him. My church uses the Ventures series for our ESL (English as a Second Language) ministry, and I've used most levels of the books for several years as a teacher and private tutor. They provide one component of a full ESL curriculum. The illustrated lessons are clear and easy to follow. The Ventures 3rd edition books replaced DVDs with 2-D barcodes that play audios on smart phones for independent study.To learn English well, ESL students will need to go deeper than the Ventures books. You may supplement them with other books, internet-based lessons, conversational practice, drills, and other materials on vocabulary, grammar, word morphology, pronunciation, reading, writing, punctuation, and culture. These can be taught independently of the Ventures lessons.
