Digitally remastered reissue, with original artwork, new booklet content & bonus tracks in ltd digi-packaging - Originally released in 1982, this 9 track CD now has 2 bonus tracks. Review: A fireworks shower fusing blues and rock - The late Rory Gallagher has always embodied the spirit of the blues for me. When I first connected with his music in 1972, just after he left the power trio Taste to front his own band, I felt a resonance his brand of blues that I never felt with the authentic or traditional Mississippi Delta or Chicago blues. This remastered, released edition of "Jinx" captures Mr. Gallagher at an exciting, dynamic point in his storied career. Mr. Gallagher expanded his band, adding Bendan O'Neill as the drummer, Bob Andrews on keyboards, and a pair of saxophonists on some tracks. Mainstay Gerry McAvoy continued on bass. He also recorded Jinx in Germany, perhaps feeling more at home there---as Roger Chapman did---than back in the UK where fads and trends tended to garner more attention than talent. "Jinx" is an explosive return to form, a fireworks shower fusing blues and rock, that will raise hackles on the nape of one's neck. It's clear from the opening power of Big Guns that Mr. Gallagher is in a take-no-prisoners mood, and he fires off riffs and slides with grace and style. There are no filler tracks here, and even the bonus tracks, missing from the vinyl edition because of limited space/time, showcase a tight, focused band. It's hard to pick favorites, but Jinxed is near the top of my all-time favorite Rory Gallagher numbers, a rich sonic stew propelled by excellent percussion and bass, accented with double saxes, and peppered with some heady guitar work. Loose Talk and Ride on Red are worthy of a call-out, but so are all the other tracks. Donal Gallagher, Rory's brother, oversaw the remixing and remastering of this CD, and the sound here is clear and crisp. Listening to "Jinx" now makes it easy for me to agree with the critics who declared Mr. Gallagher to be every bit as good as Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton ever were. Review: I was glad I can find this disk at a great price - This is a very rare disc to find

Fantastic guitarist. Takes a little getting used to but ...
Fantastic guitarist. Takes a little getting used to but once he's got you, that's it. Anything by Rory in the 70's was always immensely enjoyable to listen to. Left us way too early.

A five star classic
One of my favorite Rory cd's. It has great rock n roll and great blues. These 2012/2013 remasters are the best sounding Rory Gallagher you can buy.

Even lesser Rory is still Awesome
Not one of Gallagher's best albums, he was ill and probably depressed when he recorded it (hence the album title) but still some great blues guitar playing and songs from one of the truly great blues guitarists of all time.

What the Hellcat??
Wish I had kept my vinyl version of this record. It had Hellcat on it - my favourite track from the record and it fitted in perfectly with the rest of the tunes. Now it appears as a bonus track on Top Priority, which is rather annoying. Its a Jinx track through and through. Ok so what IS on this cd now? Generally a little more bluesy than Top Priority, catchy riffs (Signals, Big Guns) as expected, and more introspective moments (Easy Come Easy Go, Jinx). Not perhaps as favorable as Top Priority, or quite as enjoyable, maybe because those blues influences were creeping back in. That vinyl record could've been worth a fair bit now....

Jinx
I had Jinx as part of a set of 5 albums, I wanted the remastered version as it has sleeve notes that the set doesn't have. I just love everything Rory did, he never made a bad song or bad album, everytime I listen I find something new, his work is flawless and timeless
