This item will work for anyone/everyone (excluding children under ~8yo). The “science” behind this product is that the little ceramic plate heats up to 120-125 degrees Fahrenheit within a few seconds, which should be pressed against a bug bite. This rapid heat “denatures” the proteins within insect’s salivas/venoms that are irritating your flesh, causing the “bug bite.”This temperature does NOT burn flesh within that short of a timeframe (again, ages 8+ for more thickened skin). Does it create a sharp, burning pain? YES (for example, 120 degrees is similar to a sun-exposed seat belt, or about as hot as a water heater will get for tap). Unless you have no feeling to that area. Does the pain go away within seconds? YES. Does it truly denature the proteins and relieve the pain/itchiness? YES. If it doesn’t work the first time, use it again after ~5min (per instructions), and to let your skin rest. These people leaving 1-star reviews because of “heat” are missing the entire concept of this item, of course it’s “hot,” it’s literally destroying the chemicals CREATING the itchiness!!**Pro Tip** if the bite is still itchy/painful after hitting it a few times, and/or after a few days, apply 1% hydrocortisone BiD. Theres a certain threshold where the itchiness/pain isn’t from the insects proteins anymore, but rather caused by our bodily response. And this item will NOT improve itchiness/pain caused by our own body. This item ONLY assists by destroying insect proteins.

I originally was upset when I couldn’t return this item. I did not realize how it worked and as someone with fibromyalgia this was not a good fit (nothing wrong with the product, with fibromyalgia my body reacts differently to stimulus). I just wrote a negative review and figured lesson learned.The seller reached out to me, which isn’t easy and spent the time working with me. I honestly was surprised because good customer service is rare these days and Great! Customer service is even more rare. I really appreciate this seller. My opinion was valued. Bravo! I'm allergic to mosquito bites and nothing would help the creams and other things only gave temporary relief and I end up with scars from unconscious scratching. This is the only thing that actually got rid of the bite! It does sting for a moment but it is worth it! I bought this for each of my family members and several for my personal use. This is the only thing that works for me that is convenient. I use to take a really hot damp towel and short of burning myself just for relief. This has saved me! Hands down works!!!!! I refuse to use anything else now!

‼️Warning! This is not a returnable item! I bought this after seeing all the great reviews and hoping for some relief from those pesky summer mosquito bites. The product was packaged well and looked very promising. On my first use the pen LED blinked 3 times and beeped 3 times. From reading the instructions I determined I needed to replace the batteries. So I got fresh new batteries, popped them in, and voila, it worked! Unfortunately, it worked a total of 2 times before doing the 3 beeps and blinks again. I opened it up, checked inside the battery compartment to make sure no debris was impacting it, and replaced the batteries in case it was some fluke. It worked again but only once before it started beeping. Went to try to do a return as a defunct item, but Amazon said it wasn’t a returnable item. I was able to get a refund by going through the extra steps of talking to customer service. I would have taken a replacement if they offered it, but happy at least to get my money back. Seems like it could be a great product if you get one that works.

Typically mosquito bites on me swell up (like welts) and itch for DAYS. No matter how many different anti-itch gels, creams, etc I tried to apply to the bite sites. This is the first device/treatment which minimizes the swelling (barely noticeable red bump) and immediately stops itching sensations. I love this thing and keep one at home and another in my travel bag. Also, there are several well-written science articles on the rationale of why this works on insect bites or other histamine-releasing conditions (which cause the “itch” sensations). My first one (purchased 3 years ago) still works, so the longevity of the device looks good to me.

Mosquitos love me so I get several bites. It has been my experience that you need to zap it more than once. It does seem to stop the itch but I found the next day you need to zap it again. The heat surprised me at first and it seems intense but stops just when you think it might get too hot. It is easy to use unless the bite is on your back. The size is good, fits in your hand nicely. Quality seems to be good. For the money, I think it's worth it.

Best product ever! I have purchased a couple of these and it really works! I have unusually bad reactions to mosquito bites and I no longer am afraid of going outside. If I get a bit I just use this products & it stops the itching. Even though this product is from a 3rd party vendor & is non returnable you can purchase with confidence. I received one that was defective, I contacted the shipper & it was replaced immediately via 2 day shipping.
