Works well but very big
I've found the Masterclass knife sharpener easy to use, efficient and very adaptable. It has two sharpeners, one coarse to start and one fine to finish and used together they work very well and have effortlessly sharpened pairing knives, a large chef's knife, scissors and even a bread knife. You can adjust the sharpness of everything with the dial on top and handily the various adjustments are printed on the side so you don't have to consult any instructions. Another plus is that the non-slip pads on the bottom work well on all our kitchen surfaces. However, I do have reservations: the main one relates to the size, in my opinion it's far too big to be practical, the handle is enormous, much bigger than my hands, which are average for an average sized man, and huge compared to my wife's hand. This wouldn't really be an issue except that it makes the whole thing far bigger than it needs to be, which means it takes up a lot of room in a drawer or on the countertop. Also, the size and relative height of the handle does make it a little less stable than I would ideally like and I worry that when the non-slip pads inevitably pick up bits and pieces from the work surfaces it could become more of a problem. So, it does do a very good job but if you're pressed for space in the kitchen you might find it a bit too big.

Effective
Delighted with this sharpener, I have had the same one for years but have never worked out how to sharpen my scissors, this solves that problem. Very easy to use and sharpens well. It is a bit big to fit in the drawer with the knives as I do with my other one but worth it for the extra functionality.

easy to use
Very easy to use as you'd expect. All you need to do is set the angle using the dial and hold it down. It has rubber feet so it doesn't move even when you force it. It'll sharpen your knifes on one side and scissors on the other. Very light and comfortable to use. It seems fairly well built.

A very useful gadget for the home which is very easy to use
This is a very useful gadget to have in the home. How many of us have blunt knives and scissors which have become useless over time but as we don't have the means to sharpen them, we throw them out and buy a new version? Apart from the cost, this is not exactly environmentally friendly. This knife sharpener is light and doesn't take up much room so it can be tucked away in a drawer until it is required. Although lightweight, it has a non slip base which means it stays in place while you use it. The handle is ergonomic which fits neatly and comfortably in the hand, again making it easy to use. The device has two sections - a coarse section for sharpening dull blades and a fine ceramic section for honing. The angle of the sharpener can be adjusted so that most sizes of blade can be sharpened. Printed on the side of the sharpener are the correct angles for paring knives, utility knives, chef knives and carving knives so this information is readily accessible - you don't have to fish out an instruction manual to find this out. The angle is adjusted simply by turning a knob on the top of the sharpener - dead easy. There is a separate section for sharpening scissors which again is easy to use. I must have sharpened around 8 pairs of scissors since getting this gadget, most of them so blunt they wouldn't cut through butter! I have also been sharpening all my vegetable knives, carving knives etc. A very handy device indeed.

Easy to use knife sharpner
This is a simple and safe to use knife sharpner that has variable sharpening angles and both coarse and fine stones. It is easy to hold firmly on the countertop and requires no special skill or technique. The scissor sharpening element was a little more tricky to use successfully and not as easy to get sharp blades. Build quality is okay and it seems solid enough in use. If you like sharp knives this is a useful tool.

Sharpens knives, not so great on scissors.
This is a 'safe' knife sharpener for people who don't get a traditional sharpening steels. It works very well for this purpose on traditional knives with flat blades. I've used it on or Sabatier knives to good effect, taking care to follow the instructions about using the two sharpening stations. The knives had keen blades at the end and there is a much reduced chance of cutting yourself - unlike a traditional steel used badly.Didn't find the scissors sharper particularly useful. It may be our scissors. Very few are as expensive or as well regarded as the knives. The slot was too awkward for many and I had trouble getting an edge on the posh pair. But as a knife sharpener it works really well, and being able to adjust the angle is an added bonus, one I highly regard. So I'll forgive the scissors part.

Easy , effective and safe
This is a large sturdily-made knife sharpener with non-slip feet and a good big handle so that you can safely hold it in place and keep your hand away from the business end for safety. There a dial to set the angle with suggestions of which to choose. Run your knife through the coarse then the fine - you actually see tiny bits of metal coming off on the coarse setting, so you know it's doing something! I struggled a bit to get an improvement on blunt scissors, but I don't really expect to sharpen scissors - I buy new ones. It's knives that need frequent sharpening. I'm told that a blunt knife is actually more dangerous to use than a sharp one because you have to push harder.
