What is the maximum phone width this can handle? my samsung galaxy s10+ measures 3.25". this would need to open a little wider than that.

Does the phone adaptor section come off, so that I could use it with another tripod, or is it attached?

Yes, the adaptor can be removed. My hubby has a monopod for his camera and I am able to attach this adaptor to his monopod to use with my phone as well. Also, once you remove the adaptor, you can screw in a standard camera as long as it has the universal screw hole under your camera. So this is good for phone and a traditional camera.
