Better Than Expected But.....
Well I like some of the other reviewers was a little concerned about this purchase however I am pleasantly surprised so far with a few exceptions. First off unlike the others reviews here my old 2013 cable did not work at all. Once I swapped it out for the 2014 it installed perfectly. I have a UN55F9000. So my concerns are 1. While watching some programs/movies on cable I can see movement of what should be stationary items...very weird, and they are not what I would think are CGI items. 2. I loaded up an episode of Breaking Bad on Netflix but was not as impressed with the picture as I thought I should be. No WOW factor. 3. The cool thing is now Netflix does show suggestions for 4K programs in the browse area. (This did not show before the upgrade) The nature stuff is good but again just not the WOW I was expecting 4. Now I may have missed something here but I was expecting the 4K preloaded movies that others were alluding too but I got nothing with this purchase and after shelling out $400 for this thing I'm not quite ready to spend $300 more for the hard drive and the movie pack. I guess I have to do more research for the right settings etc. and am hoping for more 4K content soon! If anyone reading this can offer suggestions they would be appreciated...thanks

Changed my TV from Ok to Wow!!!
Got this delivered yesterday so here is an overview of how things went. Hooked it up to the TV (2013 65F9000) and nothing happened, kept getting the animation to plug the wire into the kit, I switched out the old cable and replaced it with the cable that came with the new box, same deal. Totally bummed out I read the instructions once more and well its not that great so did some tinkering, apparently I had downloaded the latest firmware etc. for my TV a month back but I had not run the UHD evolution kit install, that was weird because I was never prompted to in the first place and had no idea that this was the next step so the instructions are not quite accurate. After I installed the UHD evolution kit software with the old kit attached, I ran the backup portion and backed up my data. Swapped out the old kit, turned the TV off, plugged in the new evo kit and powered it up. Walah! it worked, the upgrade/setup process began with the new kit, one of my gripes is the remote, it feels rather cheap, actually really cheap unlike the first gen remote, they also removed the trackpad from the remote which I kinda like but anyway its just a remote. After everything was all setup and done, I proceeded with my picture quality comparison. To be frank here, after spending a lot of money on this UHD TV initially, I absolutely thought the picture was subpar, I just could not get to like it, there was too much CGI like effects going on in dark scenes and so much grain now and then. My receiver upscales to 4K as well but that did not cut if, I had tinkered a lot with every setting that was available but was far from impressed. With the new kit all I can say for now is wow! The new kit converted my 2013 TV into a new TV altogether, I watched the NFL game and it was so impressive, the 4K up-scaling from my receiver was immediately noticeable. I played a bluray as well, one test was directly from the bluray output to the TV and the other via the receiver, both were highly impressive unlike the previous kit where the bluray direct to TV was absolutely garbage as there was so much overlay/CGI/color issues that it was an absolute put off. Finally I tested the 4K Netflix stream, I played Breaking Bad and it looks pretty darn good, hopefully they add more 4K content to Netflix since I had to upgrade my account in order to receive 4K streams. So to sum this up, if you are feeling bummed with your 2013 model, buy this kit! Its expensive but its well worth it. I'll be tinkering more with some settings here and there but for now I am loving my TV again.

Samsung dropped the ball big time with this EVO kit
So I recently purchased the new 75" UN75HU8550FXZA as I'm not a big fan of the curved screen, and at the same time also purchased the UHD video hard drive. 'The Samsung rep' told me the UHD Drive was ONLY compatible with the 8550 if used in conjunction with the USB-3 port on the SEK-2500U Evo kit. So after purchasing everything, the Evo SEK-2500U IS NOT compatible with the 8550 series what so ever (even though it has the the EVO port on it, just like it's bigger 9000 series brother), it's meant for 'next years' EVO kit (even though the rep said the SEK-2500 would already add additional processing to the 8550, necessary to playback the UHD content). So now the UHD Video pack DOES NOT WORK on the TV's usb-3 port, nor does the EVO kit work AT ALL (enters an endless power cycling mode) with the 8550. So all said and done I am left with expensive paper weights and no 4k content after buying all samsung products via the reps recommendation. I have called samsung support 5 times now, had them 'attempt' to remote into the TV, but after 6 hours on hold and no help what so ever I am left BEYOND dissatisfied with the products.

Ensure compatibility with your TV before ordering
I am pretty sure that this kit will work with compatible TVs but make sure that yours is one of the ones that this will work with. The info says that it will work with the 2014 smart hub but I found that it will not work with a UN50HU8550 LED TV. After many tries to get it to work, and finally contacting Samsung support, I was informed that this kit will not work with 2014 TVs. The kit that will work with my TV will be released sometime early next year. Easy Amazon returns are very helpful with this item.

Don't be nervous it works now!
As with the previous reviews from June and July, I too was nervous about the quality of this product. I can re-assure everyone that everything now works fine with the latest firmware.I got it, followed the upgrade instructions with no problems. Now i just need to swap out my receiver to one that support hdmi 2.0

It works as it says in the tin
One of the good things about customers product review is that a prospective customer can learn from others mistakes.Run the evolution kit backup on my TV set (UA55F9000), powerd the unit off and removed the plug... unvoxed the evolution kit an installed it. I tried to use the old cable, as it was nicely hidden and tied up and did not work. Worked after new cable was installed. To a while to get used some of the menus but once done I tested a couple o movies and TV channels and I notice very small improvements on the image definition.Need to work on the voice and motion controls as they not working as they should
