Works a treat. Wanted galvanic isolation from the laptop USB to the DAC. This very diminutive bit of kit that fulfilled my requirements; it is very small and very well built, came well packed in a plain no fuss cardboard box. I'm running Windows 10 and the Amazon HD app. Plugged in the convertor and Windows 10 saw it and set it up with out a hitch. For Windows 10 you shouldn't need to load up the XMOS driver as its baked in. I checked the XMOS web site and that's what they say; however you can get a driver from them if you did around. It's the same one that Nobsound reference to in their instruction manual i.e. they give a Google docs link and not a QR code - the Google Docs link works ok, where as the CD supplied had nothing on it? I did try the download but that messed things up and I had to remove the driver from the device manager in Windows. When Windows 10 has installed the Nobsound convertor do a right click on the sound icon in the tool bar and open the Volume Mixer setting. Click the speaker and select the advanced tab. From the drop down menu select the required sound setting and apply. I went for 192khz / 24 bit as that's all I need. I don't play music any greater than that sampling and bit rate. I then checked if the Amazon Music app was seeing it ok. When playing an album I clicked the HD or HD Ultra and it came back and said that the device was capable of 192/24 and what Khz / bit rate it the music track was playing at. Happy days :-) Sound quality is excellent to me via the Toslink. For the audiophiles out there: DAC is a Topping E30 into a Cryrus 8VS2 amp (+PSX PSU) and then hooked up to Q Acoustics 3020 speakers using Tellurium Q Black speaker cable. RCA's are Tellurium Q Black from DAC to amp. Toslink SKW cable. Enjoy.

Makes poping noises on optical , did not get it to work with my phone ,it just did not lock on with the coaxial line and kept poping and making very loud noises, maybe I got a bad unit , don't know what to think but just did not work anywhere close to what I expected.

Actually works straight out of the box under Windows 10, but sound not so good until the driver is installed. This is a bit fiddly. My PC didn't recognize a driver on the supplied mini-CD until I opened it in file manager and pointed to: XMOS-Stereo-USB-Audio-Class2-Driver-3004_v4.13.0（dop for WIN7-WIN10).exe. Ran this and got very good stereo sound through coax cable connected to digital input of a Yamaha receiver. As I only use stereo, I can't say what other sound modes are possible e.g. 5.1. I have set the sound quality to 24 bit, 48KHz and FLAC files sound as good as my ears can tell.

Bought this to replace a cheaper device that only had limited frequency output. This device with the XMOS chip for USB to SPDIF is the best one purchasable. Can manage 16 and 24 bit depth (as this standard) as well as 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 and 192 kHz sample rates. Will manage the full range of music that you can buy from HD Tracks at the native bit and sample rate without up- or downscaling on the computer. For Windows7-11, you have to use an XMOS USB driver that you download from a Google drive link (feels shady, but tested this option). However Mac OS and Linux support the XMOS USB chip out of the box with in built USB2 audio drivers (have not tested this personally). The XMOS website has testimonials from high-end Audio DAC manufacturers, so the expense is justified.

I use an Asus Xonar Essence STU external DAC (modified with muses02 opamps) which is a really nice DAC, except that the usb implementation is poor. I use the Nobsound as a buffer between my PC and the dac and use the toslink output from the Nobsound into the STU. The pc sees the Nobsound as a sound card and I set the sound output to 174.4 khz, (i.e. 4 times 44.1khz) sampling rate so that the pc does all the up-sampling as I had a suspicion that the STU didn't handle this too well. The sound through my HiFi is now absolutely superb. Crystal clear and very detailed and musical. The Nobsound has completely transformed my STU from a good DAC to a superb one. Absolutely no issues with the Nobsound in the year and a bit I have been using it. Highly recommended product, especially if you have noise issues from pc / laptop to DAC over usb and you need a buffer to electrically isolate the DAC. The Nobsound also solves the problem where most DACs have pretty poor usb implementations but have toslink or coax inputs which are generally much better. Edit. This review may read like a review of the Asus STU but if you think about it, a device like the Nobsound should be transparent in the signal path. Neither adding nor subtracting anything. It does that task very competently. I should also add that I had a quite long run of usb cable from pc to dac. Long runs of usb cable are not a good idea from a noise and signal degradation point of view. Plugging the Nobsound into the pc then running a thin toslink cable to the dac was a far better solution.

The documentation says TOSLINK up to 192Khz. But I could only get it to work up to 96Khz.

No 5.1 support, but works in Linux using both coax and optical connectors.

je voulais envoyer un son 5.1 via le connecteur coaxial a un ampli mais le son ne sort qu'en sterero même en suivant la notice pas simple (logiciel foobar non fournit) de l'appareil (test sur win7)

Habe diese externe Soundkarte nach langem suchen bestellt weil sie genau das versprochen hat was ich gesucht habe. Ich habe ein iMac2019 und brauchte ein Digital Coaxial Ausgang 5.1 für mein Verstärker! Der Mac hat ja leider nur 3,5mm Kline 2.0 bringt einem nix... Daher diese Soundkarte bestellt angeschlossen und festgestellt das Leider NUR STEREO übertragen wird. Mehrere Player wie VLC und 5KPlayer ausprobiert. Mehrere Ton Dateien und Filme nur Stereo keine Chance dem Douk Audio ein Mehrkanal Signal zu entlocken ohne Treiber gibts ja auch keine Einstellungen unter den Systemton Einstellungen... Daher hält es nicht was es verspricht...

Fa quello che promette. Da quel che ho potuto provare col mio computer DELL funziona solo con cavi USB-A->USB-C, con cavi C-C non veniva rilevato. Questo potrà essere un problema in futuro. Il problema principale è che però ho ricevuto un prodotto usato: la scatola non era sigillata, il prodotto non era ricoperto da cellophane così come il cavo originale non sembrava avere quella rigidezza normale di un prodotto appena estratto dalla sua scatola. Chiederei una sostituzione ma non ce ne sono altri disponibili.

Deluso dall'unico prodotto simile presente qui su Amazon (InLine usb > toslink/coax), che ha funzionato bene fino a quando non l'ho scollegato e riattaccato un paio di volte e si é disintegrato scollandosi tutto, mi sono rivolto a questo che mi è stato consegnato in 15 gg. esatti. L'ho provato solo oggi e su Win va alla perfezione ma su Mac, pur riconosciuto, non riesce a tirar fuori più di una distorsione intermittente continua.
