The batteries use a clumsy way to charge. You need more parts than necessary and the official vid for the Excal specifically says don't lose the adapter cuz it is expensive to replace. There is no way to know how full the battery is when charging; the manual simply says charge for 17 hours to make sure it is full. Not sure why it is necessary to have an adapter and a basically not standard connection to recharge a run of the mill battery; not to mention the lack of feedback on how full the battery is is so 1970s. While I realize this does not address how well the Excal works it should be noted that it will not work at all without a battery and using an outdated error prone method to charge a battery is not what I expected from an expensive toy like this.

The product was awesome, however it was supposed to come with extra rechargeable batteries but only came with an empty battery pack that was not waterproof which is useless for what I intend to use this for.
