How do you get the mirror to unstick?

Twist the base the opposite way you twisted it to attach...then pull the little tab to get the suction to release...

Absolutely! It rotates very easily.

My battery compartment is for only 3 and does not work. Is this an outdated/broke model?

Mine is for three as well, I'm guessing yours is broken if you've already tried fresh batteries.
