BAC Fireside Distributors, Inc 4' Rectangle Brown Guardian Fireplace Rug

This product, a basic rectangular brown rug, intended to protect our floor in front of the wood stove, is an industrial-type flat mat. The tight weave is very flat, so that not too much gets stuck in it. Vacuuming gets most ash/dust/dirt off, with small pieces of wood/splinters sticking. (Those you can hand-pick off.) The back of the rug has a note saying that you're not supposed to wash it; maybe that would lessen the fireproof feature? I think overall that the rug and shipping costs were about twice what it should cost (and I've gotten similar products in the past for a much lower price), but we needed one in a hurry and this was what was available. If you aren't looking for something fancy in your living room, this would serve its purpose. I would try shopping around though for something more reasonably priced if you have time to wait. I had sort of expected something a little nicer looking for what this cost. But my floor is burn-free, so far, which was the main goal.

I needed something to catch the live coals that occasionally fall from our woodstove. This is better looking than I imagined and is just the right size in front of our stove. Hoses off easily.

WARNING! Do not try to wash this in your washing machine. My dog peed on this rug and I thought I could easily wash it. OK...not a good idea. It literally fell apart when I removed it. Big $$$$ mistake as the price of it was nearly $100 a year ago. Can't complain since it was my fault. Otherwise, I served it purpose and I'll just have to suck it up and buy another one.

I bought this rug based on the reviews of others. I purchased a wood-burning stove and local regs require I have a rug such as this one to prevent embers from the stove igniting something just outside of the hearth where the stove sits. This rug is attractive and is cheaper here than in the fireplace shop. I am please with the rug and may purchase a second one for the other fireplace. The rug arrived sooner than expected so I was happy.

It's reasonably attractive. I ordered for next season so haven't tested its fire-worthiness yet. It flattened out pretty quickly and didn't have a noticeable smell.

I was looking for a good quality fireproof fireplace rug. This rug appeared to be of good quality and within my budget. I would have been a happier customer had the vendor been more competitive to offer free shipping for any purchase $75.00 or more, but instead their policy was for any purchase $100.00 or more. Unfortunately, since my purchase totalled $99.00, I was stuck paying for shipping charges!

It's functional as far as fire retardant goes. It's kind of ugly and for the price...
