Would this make a good packable rain jacket for travel?

This is a little bit thicker, more rubbery feeling material. It won’t pack down as small as something made of thinner and lighter material, like nylon. It probably wouldn’t be the best option for folding up into a backpack for hiking if that’s what you’re looking for, but there’s no reason you wouldn’t be able to pack into luggage.

I think it’s made in China, I don’t quite remember.

Is the hood detachable?

The coat I got has matching pants and no the hood is not detachable

Does this raincoat run true to size? I typically where between 8-10. Should I buy medium or large?

It might depend if you want to wear layers under it. It’s not lined, but does block wind and water completely.
