Backstory, Romance, and Ikki vs. The Hunter
Rakudai is one of my favorite anime, so I've been meaning to read the light novels for a while. We had fan translations that were great, but it is so nice to get an official release. This is probably the most "tropey" volume in the series, and I believe it gets better later on. Lots of backstory and romance here. But it does a good job of setting the stage for Stella and Ikki and their adventures to come.I wouldn't say there's a lot of new information here (there were a couple of surprises). It covers the first four episodes of the anime, which was adapted quite faithfully. Read if you want to get more of Rakudai. I can't wait for volumes 4 and beyond to come out!

Decent read
This was a decent read. That said there was nothing original. It so closely follows other books in its niche that I felt a sense of deja vu the entire novel. I would have dinged the novel harder but there was one element that to my mind offered it some redemption in that the romantic side wasn't beset by the usual main character timidity or lack of awareness.

Great read
I read the kindle edition and was not disappointed. I've been waiting for an official release for a while now since the anime finished a few years ago. Its a great read if you like detailed sword battles and there are parts that were removed from the anime. Best part is that this is one of the few series with actual romance between characters.

Nice work
I bought the DVD for this book And the book has more in-depth scenes then the DVD I do encourage you to read the book but if they could go and make a season two for this it will be wonderful anyway by this book Siri it’s well worth it

It's a very likeable story
Not gonna spoil anything, but I like everything about this series, even the side characters are well done. The MC's backstory is good, the evil (there's a lot of evil in this, different kinds of evil I mean) is made to be believable and the illustrations are great!

Fun read, really got into the combat
When I first started reading Chivalry of a Failed Knight I will admit I was a little bored but I kept pushing through and I'm not disappointed I did. More towards the middle of the book we finally got some real action and the author did a great job and explaining the combat. It was fun and towards the end of the book I found myself very interested. I like the fact that the MC has to struggle to succeed and there is a sense of danger involved. Excited to read the next volume.

Some good points
There are some good points to this; action and a few story angles that keep things moving. There's also a refreshing level of decent spelling/grammar. It is very helpful to see that in a story. On the negative aspect, is the incest. If I'd known there was incest involved, I would not have purchased the book.

YES YES YES
I first became aware of this series by watching the anime and couldn’t wait dive back into the world and see how the books compared. The answer: fantastically! The story is just as good but with the greater depth and insight into characters and the background that comes with reading a book over watching a show. Additionally, the translation team did a freaking phenomenal job. I’ve read a lot of light novels - both official and fan translations - and this is one of the best I’ve come across
