TomTom Car Sat Nav Start 52 Lite, 5 Inch

Once it has started, it’s a good little device.In the scheme of things, it probably doesn’t take all that long to initialise ... but ... you /will/ notice.On the us side, I recently drove a brand new A-class Mercedes as a rental - and although this TomTom’s graphics aren’t going be as good as this big-screen integrated system, I’d take its guidance and clarity of instructions over the Mercedes system every time (as soon as the TomTom has booted up). The Mercedes drove me (not quite literally - it was still me driving) to distraction : what does ‘slight right’ mean ? And some of those - when I eventually got back on track and tried again - were more than 90 degrees. What is ‘slight’ about that ?TomTom far superior to Mercedes, all day long.If you can live with giving it time at the start, it’s a good sat nav - period: and at the price, you can have no complaints about value.Haven’t updated it yet but looks simple enough.

I ordered this model because it fits my needs perfectly, basic controls, adequate sized screen and easy to set up and use, there are better more costly models but this does the job perfectly.

I am a driving instructor and I purchased this satnav, even though my car has a built-in one because it is the same as the satnav that the examiners use when conducting driving tests.It is really helpful for my students to learn to follow a satnav and to drive independently. It is easy to use and I can even record the test routes and use them when doing a mock test with my students. A big thumbs up! 👍😊

This is awful., very slow to lad sometimes so frustrating that I use other method.only recognises postcodes and not street names, woefully out of date and you can’t update it as it is not recognised by TomTom. Very poor

I am a driving instructor and this is the same Sat Nav they use during the driving test so it’s perfect for me and my students. I’ve copied all the test routes onto it so my students know exactly what they will be faced with during their test.

You can make your own customized routes using the MyDrive website. However the software is very "clunky" and takes quite a long time to do. Much quicker and easier to set a route in Google maps and save it as a GPX file. Plenty of videos online telling you how to do it. The sat nav itself is sometimes slow to load a post code location. Could be better for the money. Still a little on the expensive side for a sat nav that was launched several years ago.

Couldn’t update the local maps. Unable to find my location. Have to return it. Screen size is good.
