This Is New York

sasek's books are all visually lovely, no doubt about it, however they are also incredibly informative, which i quite appreciate. this book is littered with amazing images and interesting facts. it also makes me wish i could go back in time to see new york in this era. and as with all the updated printings of sasek's books, there is a welcome list of "this is the state...today!" at the end of the book with changes listed since the original printing. it is great to see both the way the state WAS as well as the present day differences. i highly recommend this book if you are interested in either new york, or simply in wonderful illustration.

This was just one of the few gifts my mother received on Mother's Day and she is majorly in love with it. She teaches preschool and loves New York so why not combine the two? Since the year is almost over, she plans on reading it next year to the kids when they study the letter "N". This book was written in the '60s, so I'm told, so a lot of things in New York have changed since then. Although this is true, it is still a great and fun book to read. It's like "Home Away From Home" for my mom. If you're a teacher, your kids will love this book! Such incredible illustrations!

This is the best children’s book I’ve ever seen about NYC. I will be gifting this over and over. There are no children in my household and I will gladly display a copy for a coffee table book!

I like this picture book and have gave it as gift to couple of my firends in other countries. It's a great book to introduce NYC to others. I feel adults also enjoy it as much as kids...

This is such a goldie for the price. Not much has changed since it was written so it’s still quite relevant. Love the illustrations and it’s a good way to introduce our fave city to our daughter!

We gave this to our granddaughter to read before her first trip to New York City. She came prepared, with plenty of information about where she was going!

This book was the "congratulations card" that went with a graduation gift for a high school graduate who is moving to New York to go to school. I suggested it as her guide book to the city. When this series first came out, we used them when we took our son to places all over the world as our guidebook for him and they never failed. Mr. Sasek was a master at picking exactly what one should see whether 8 or 80. So, if you have friends with children going to any of the cities he has chosen to feature, it is a must.

I just purchased 4 of these wonderful books, This is New York, Venice, London and Paris. They are a gift to our sons for Christmas. I think that these will make a great addition to anyone's library, young or old. I will be purchasing these for gifts!!!! The art is enchanting and though some of the facts are not up to date they make corrections and updates in the back. I can see these books becoming a family heirloom and they will be passed on to my grandchildren one day! Do not deprive your family from these treasures!!
